During the 9/11 commission hearings, I was getting a lot of dental work done - mostly crowns. I was in the dentist chair one day for several hours - this was one of the places that made the crowns there. The treatment cubicle had the TV on the hearings and Rice was the witness.

Honestly, she sounded like a petulant Valley Girl. "That wasn't my job," and "I'm not responsible for..." was said over and over again. Her voice dripped with disdain. Nothing, apparently, was her job.

I don't recall her taking responsibility or offering even a shred of sympathy during the entire hearing.

Prior to that, I had admired her to at least some extent, as a woman who had succeeded in a man's world. Never again.
