Here's what I think about the nine republicans that voted with
the Democrats today.
They are likely the only ones who are not complicit in any way with what happened on January 6th. They are the only ones Bannon can't incriminate with what he knows and what he can document.

Everyone of these Republicans should have condemned what happened it was their lives at stake

4. And when they were all taken to the safe room
the pictures of them show a lot of people who didn't seem very worried.
Certainly some were more involved than others, but I think they all knew what was going to happen. The ones who voted no, that is. |

6. I think some of the ones inside didn't comprehend how violent it was until they saw the video
Plus they were just delighted they were “stopping to steal.” They obviously hate the United States.

17. I clearly remember the picture of MTG laughing, enjoying what was going on at that time.
Nearby Dems had a worried look on their faces.
If you recall, the Dems wore masks, the R's did not, and in fact the R's were adamant about not wearing masks if you recall. I think this had been decided ahead of time, so the insurrectionists could identify who to leave alone, who to target. |

19. I've suspected that, too.
And any R who believed that seriously underestimates the risk when an unruly mob gets their bloodlust on. Someone with as high a profile as MTGreene probably would have been safe, heck, would have been hoisted on shoulders and given a rousing cheer, but other less recognizable Republicans would have been in just as much danger.

20. That is why they had to use the covert signal of no masks.
Otherwise less recognizable R's would be targets.
If you recall, some of the Dems were pleading with their R colleagues to wear masks to protect Dems with serious illness. The R's were adamant they would not wear masks, all of them. It was odd. I believe that Swalwell commented upon it at the time. Right, the Rs were fools if they thought they were totally safe when faced with a violent mob. |

In Adam schiff’s new book, midnight in Washington, he tells how it wasn’t just Liz Cheney yelling this is all your fault. There were a lot of them saying similar such things

9. Yep, that too.
It doesn't take much for them to go on a witch hunt.
One of my past coworkers was a Trump cult member, and his attitude toward Gov. DeWine changed instantly after I pointed out the Covid safety measures he was taking in early 2020. "Well, he's obviously a RINO!" he shouted. |

14. The violence in the background of all Republican leaders is no small thing.
For years they have been near the gun toting world and all the corporate money that can put any untraceable gun anywhere.
They need security, and they need to know that the Capitol police will see them as on their side. |

I couldn't say whether Bannon has something on the other Repukes. Maybe he does. Or maybe the others are all so scared of Chump and the crazy ChumpHunping base that they don't dare vote any other way. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

21. That assumes that none of the rest are simply cowards in the face of Trump and his minions
While I suspect what you suspect is true of some of those who voted not to refer Bannon for prosecution, I don't believe close to 200 Republican Reps were in on the coup planning. They may be fascists but those behind the insurrection are not all idiots, that wide a net of active conspirators would have increased the chances of premature exposure to an unacceptable degree. Some Republicans in Congress were in the inner circle of the conspiracy, others knew of the "legal" tactics that were planned to disrupt the certification, others were intentionally left in the dark for plausible deniability, while some others weren't trusted enough to be let in on it. Many in that last group are now all in for the cover up. That leaves just nine Republican congressional reps who were willing to do the right thing.

22. There are three types of republicans in ...
… in Congress.
Those that are corrupt and took $ they should not have from sources they they knew to be illegal, Those that are actually afraid of Тя☭mp and the monster they have created, and Those that are true believers in the bullshit. There is overlap, but they ALL are at least one of those things. |

A big reason not to vote to subpoena Bannon is fear of political retribution.
