The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is you can collect Social Security at 62 but not Medicare. I was watching Lawrence O'Donnell and he said that Cinema changed your mind about raising taxes on the wealthy but CNN is not saying that

Note that although you can collect Social Security at 62, you don't get the full amount that you would at ages 65-67.

(26,366 posts)in you making more more money than taking it early (it depends on whether you are still working/earning) but the age can be as late as 76. I think, in general, it makes sense to take it at 62 if the payments will make a difference in your life.

(3,582 posts)To shore up the system. Just raise the maximum salary for payment into the system $50k per year for the next 5 years.
If Medicare wad available at 60/62 I think many more jobs would open up. I know quite a few people hanging on to their current employment because they can't afgord healthcare without their insurance through their jobs.
Even people who have reached retirement points levels can't go because the healthcare cost will flip and they will have to pay the employer match instead of the employee share which was quite a bit lower where I worked before.
If these people can quit then they open up the promotion channels in a company.
