Went to "Hamilton", maskhole sat next to me

A vaccination card and photo ID required to enter the building. Once inside, masks required at all times. Each ticket buyer received two e-mails prior to the event stating this.

Got to my seat first. Then his wife/friend took her seat. Waiting for the show to start, he arrives and sits down. An usher comes in our aisle and holds "Mask Up, Please" sign and requests that he comply. He replies "I'm drinking my wine!", implying he'll mask when finished with his drink. Well, Act I finished ninety minutes later and he's still working on his drink and mask in hand. During intermission, a different usher came over and was less forgiving. After a conversation of several moments, they get up to leave. Act II starts and they never came back.

I struggle with musicals at times as it is, but then to be aggravated by some entitled older guy took away my enjoyment of the show. I found it distracting. At least I was able to follow the second act in comfort.

I would have something (polite) during intermission, but the usher beat me to it.

It was a viewing of "Holy Grail" followed by a Q&A with the MC. Upon which, Cleese mentioned a nice birthday present would be President Trump's assassination. The British have never known for PC humor.

That incident was discussed for a few days, as mentioned at the link (a RW site if you can stomach).

Normally I hate musicals. However I thought Hamilton was terrific, one of the best I ever saw. I found it easy to follow, but we were in the 8th row (great seats). We also had no distractions around us. Everyone was mesmerized.

On edit: My wife wanted to see it. I bought the tickets as an anniversary present. It otherwise would never have occurred to me to go see a “musical”.

I stuck my hand up as he stumbled over in "I just wanna talk" mode and told him if he wasn't masked he would stay the hell back. Ah ha ha ha, dumbshit found this offensive. Fri Oct 22, 2021, 05:27 PM

Many can even be more obnoxious. Because they feel angry that the government got its way with them in forcing them to get a shot, and partly anger at themselves for being such a "wimp" in not refusing the shot to "own the libs". And they will make sure whenever they can that getting vaccinated was NOT their choice.

A lot will get the shot simply because they don't want to lose their job. Or its just more easy to go shopping and to shows like Hamilton. And then are extra volatile because of that mixture of anger, and they want to get back at the "enemy" who are defined in multiple ways for them. Basically anyone who lives in the real world and trusts doctors and science.

And now make the point to not wear masks to stay in RW club, not to mention they resent that the shots weren't the end of it - they still have to wear the "damn masks" and blame Biden and us instead of the antivaxers that life isn't back to normal.

My partner had never seen Avenue Q, so we had to go when it was in town. Masks are required, but soon as the lights go down, of course . . .

Well, an older couple was in front and below us. The man took his mask off almost immediately. I was annoyed. But also delighted. Why? Because they had a child with them. Maybe 8-10? (I can't tell kids' ages)

You do not take children to see Avenue Q. I know there are puppets on all the posters and it gives off a Sesame Street vibe. They somehow made it through "The Internet is for Porn". But, I mean, at that point you should catch what is happening. Nah. But then both the adults tensed up during "Special" as a stripper puppet shakes her goodies at other characters.

And then came, "You Can Be as Loud as the Hell You Want" and that was it. Puppets graphically fucking all over stage. See ya!

We were dying. Seriously cannot believe they didn't understand it was not for kids with the porn song, but they hung in there until that, scurrying away in the dark with a hand over the child's eyes.

Worth it.
