Not long ago, we had this Senator in WV

While many of rightfully should take issue with the legacy of this family and using the wealth to enable getting a Senate seat, at least one used his privilege for some good...

In WV, you get old industry baked into your representative. At some point, this reality has to set in, but I don't expect it to be soon.

As chairman of the Finance Committee's health subcommittee, he introduced his own bill in July 2009 creating an optional public health insurance plan to compete with private insurers. However, his work on the public option did not pass.

Health care has long been a passion of Rockefeller's. He is motivated in part by anger at his mother's treatment during a long terminal illness — an experience that would be much worse for people of ordinary incomes, he thought — and he has sought to increase the number of general practitioners, especially in states such as West Virginia and Arkansas.

The sharp shift from a state that rejected Reagan in 1980 to overwhelmingly voting for trump in 2020 is hard to change because it's not about policy. The GOP has long been very successful in branding culture as policy.

and so, too did quite a few of the Rockfellers, including Jay.

It seems the reverse for far too many in Congress. I'll leave any comments specific to WV unsaid.
