According to this, thats based on one gas station in one town. The average cost in California is nowhere near the amount Fox is claiming here

(67,105 posts)While visiting a family member, I overheard him reminiscing about the good old days of cheap gas under TFG. I wasn't sure what he was talking about as local gas was $3.25/gallon.
That house has multiple TVs simultaneously blasting selections of Faux, OAN and Newsmax.

(36,594 posts)Other than that, I cant remember when gas was under 3.20 ish in California. The northern region of the state tends to be highest at well over 4.00 a gallon consistently. We have special blends utilized in the summer that cost more.

I know where the gas station is in Monterey county and it is always expensive. A desperation gas station.

California gas has typically been over $4.00 a gallon in recent months. There's a few stations in the Central Valley that are selling it for $3.99 or a few cents less.
In the affluent big cities they can demand a higher price.
The chemistry of California gasoline is tightly regulated to reduce emissions so it's a separate market from much of the nation.

Average US price of gas spikes 13 cents per gallon to $3.44
The price at the pump is $1.22 higher than a year ago.
Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey said Sunday the rise comes as the cost of crude oil surges.
Nationwide, the highest average price for regular-grade gas is in the San Francisco Bay Area, at $4.65 per gallon. The lowest average is in Houston, at $2.91 per gallon.
According to the survey, the average price of diesel jumped 14 cents to $3.59 a gallon.
