Who cares if anti-vaxxers quit their jobs?
It's not news
Eric Boehlert

Wringing its hands at the sight of workers walking away from jobs when faced with simple vaccine mandates, the Wall Street Journal over the weekend became the latest national news outlet to shower attention on the topic.

The sympathetic, 2,000-word Journal piece focused on a minuscule portion of the workforce that has irrationally decided not to take a free, safe, and effective vaccine. Instead of presenting these actions as delusional, the press often frames the quitting as being principled or even heroic. (The “resistance” is “unwavering,” the New York Times announced.)

The continued, hand-holding coverage — “brainwashing” is virtually never used — represents the latest example of the press helping to normalize irrational, nihilistic behavior by Trump followers.

As we watch a parade of unreasonable people needlessly blow up their careers and walk away from good paying jobs with excellent benefits, the questions that linger are, should we care, and should this trend be breathlessly treated as Big News by the media? Should we care that a tiny percentage is embracing rabbit-hole conspiracies about a vaccine that nearly 200 million Americans have safely taken? Should we care that they’ve decided to believe non-stop lies to the point where they’ll likely be unemployable for months, and maybe years to come?

snip//

Brainwashed Covid zombies will continue to walk away from good paying jobs and put their families at risk, economically. But that doesn’t mean we have to care. And that doesn’t mean it’s news.

And... I still need to invest heavily in: the Funeral Home industry; the Casket industry; the Grave Vault industry; the Cremation industry; the grave-digging industry; the headstone industry; the brass grave marker industry; the embalming chemicals industry; the mortuary school industry; the hair and makeup for corpses industry; the custom-hearse industry.

These guys must be making a FORTUNE!!!

No need to treat them with a COVID vaccine. Just keep them away from the rest of us until they die or get better. Only then let out the few who survived.

to these same people when they are overwhelming hospitals with their covid infections, are on ventilators, or have infected their families as a result of their decisions.

As for NPR, they do bothsiderism constantly. Very few of their programs are worth listening to anymore. IMO, the good ones are: Fresh Air with Terry Gross, This American Life with Ira Glass, Science Friday with Ira Flatow, and On the Media with Bob Garfield and Brooke Gladstone. Cooking and travel programs are entertaining and informative. Their "news" reporting and other programs reflect the influence of their corporate sponsors.

"If you're going to cry I'll give you something to cry about." In a world run by adults, you are still entitled to your own opinion (I'm being treated unfairly!), but not entitled to act on that opinion without consequences.

Is it news? Not really. A one off at best about how the delusional would rather blow up their lives than take a simple shot to protect themselves and those around them.

As Boehlert says, look at the WSJ wording: the resistance is unwavering which washes and rinses vaccine rejection, dilutes the selfish nonsense going on with a minority in the country.

The media does this all the time shaping the narrative for eyeballs and click bait. Why? Because chaos and dissension and heightened agita sells.

The Wall St. Journal really has to scramble to make Republican revenge songs sound reasonable or even close to acceptable. I suspect this is an example.

quitting or losing their jobs? These same people despise unions and just about every other job protection that is left on the books. Anybody who is laid off and collects unemployment is called a taker and a bum, they are all for right to work and at-will laws and their usual answers to any unfairness or complaints in the workplace is "quit and GTFO".

Screw these idiots.
