Do you agree?

Its just not real clear yet, at least to me.

(27,172 posts)I'd say the majority of the population have not moved much.
Most of the media and punditry have moved right.
Most of the local governments have moved right.
National government has maybe moved a tiny bit to the left (under Obama and Biden).
The center-right and right have moved to FASCIST.
The center-left and left have moved slightly more left.
That's my 2-cents worth of analysis.

I'll probably be alerted for the wrong reason now.
What do you think?

(65,168 posts)Legalization of marijuana, broader acceptance of gay marriage, the election of a black man as president, a large majority of taxpayers believing the tax rates need to be more progressive...
All over the last 15 years or so.
Still a ways to go, but in some areas this "move to the left" is essentially accurate.

(4,834 posts)The laws and government are a little slow on the up take, mostly because of the Electoral College and crazy way we have of selecting Senators (2 per state, regardless of population...LOL), but the population is moving continuously leftward.

(21,761 posts)What is the context here? And why are you not giving it up front?
BradAllison

(21,761 posts)This seems very bad form to me. If you have an argument to make to someone, go make it.

(1,879 posts)I know most people here realize anyone making this claim "many people say we are too far left" on DU is out to lunch. And should be treated as such. They are showing their slip.
Ohio Joe
(21,761 posts)Too far left on what? Compared to what? Now it seems only on DU... Context is king and that you are so worried about giving it says all I need to know. It's a gotcha.... Oh, and I'm glad you at least did not try to defend that you are avoiding forum moderation.
BradAllison
(1,879 posts)All this after about five posts ago wandering in like "What is going on here?? I seriously have no idea what this might be about???"
Ohio Joe
(21,761 posts)The only real clarity you have given is that you are calling out another poster because you do not want to face whomever it is, are afraid of getting a hide and that you are avoiding forum moderation.

(6,477 posts)Apparently, I tsked tsked loudly enough upthread about flagrant violation of long standing DU practice against second thread call-outs. And yet, here we are.

(6,477 posts)There's good reason for the rule against starting new threads to call out a poster on another thread.
I'm not interested in your question because it's in bad faith and generally uncool procedurally.

(1,879 posts)You chose to participate in it for META reasons. That you probably only knew about because I copped to it to avoid being accused of being a reich winger, and since I deleted to keep on the topic on point.
That's on you.

Wounded Bear
(58,706 posts)However, it has in no way gone as "far left" as the RW echo chamber is screaming at top volume about.
Since Reagan, there has been a rightward drift, which has become more of a rightward drive over the past 5-10 years. All while the RW pundits have been screaming over and over that we're being overrun by leftist, socialist, communist, (insert favorite RW buzzword here) forces that is turning the US into a hellhole of socialism.
It is far past time for a leftward surge, which started with Obamacare and which the Biden BBB Plan is trying to build on.
We'll see. Right now, the Dem "big tent" policy is biting us in the ass as our own people are torpedoing the social programs better than repubs ever have.
Now, the problem is that repubs are trying to bake in a rightwing minority rule system with their takeover of the courts and their pushing of voter suppression and election rigging schemes. They are scared shitless, because they know that the electorate is drifting left, if only as a reaction to the far-right extremism of the trump admin.

(2,575 posts)pushed back real hard back in 2008, while the powerful billionaire directed right, used the power of that money to not allow any policy moves to the left, they are still the most powerful actors in the nation.
What do you think, did you get conservative(centrist) or were you always a centrist?
If you are a centrist, can you tell me where they differ from conservatives?
