Corporations had to stop Americans from finding out the government could make their lives better
Joe Biden's infrastructure plans seemed so simple. Why not, it seemed to say, spend some of our tax dollars making our country and our lives better, instead of just flushing them away by giving them to people who are already rich or corporations that deal death?
But . . . the corporations who have bought the government obviously did not like that. They can't have the American people less desperate, less stressed, less over-worked. Americans must not, under any circumstances, learn that their tax dollars can be used to make their lives better. It's just not done. Not in America. And so, we've had two avatars of this corporate mind set kill/main/wound/slow-walk the whole thing. But it's obvious to me that the rest of the corporate world is A-OK with this result, or else the other Democrats would actually object in real and strenuous ways to what was happening. So . . . because corporations can't let Americans benefit from their government, they are ok with a small group of Democrats (and all Republicans) killing this effort. They are ok with Biden's agenda and approval rating going down the toilet. They are ok with Republicans possibly gaining back control of the house, the senate, the Whitehouse, probably to destroy democracy in this country. My question is - Biden and the people around him are mostly creatures of Washington. They know, or should know, what is possible in the current state of corporate capture of the government. So, why did they let this embarrassment happen? Who didn't get the memo? Was it Joe Biden himself who miscalculated and thought that our corporate masters would let Americans actually get some benefit, some crumbs, from our amazing productivity and wealth? And why didn't he know better? It's weird - it's like Zappa's quote about pulling back the curtain to reveal the brick wall behind it, except the surprised people seem to be the Biden administration. I would have thought they were cynical enough for this job, but maybe I was wrong? In any case, we can breathe a sigh of relief that we won't have to have eye, or dental, or hearing care when we get older. Wouldn't want to cut into any corporate profits, after all, and we the citizens need to be taught that with every lesson.

2. You'd think - but then WHY even propose it? It's not like we actually expected anything good
to happen. So why put themselves through the embarrassment of this failure? It doesn't make sense.

4. Corporations live in the bubble of private property
Heck, they privatize publicly traded companies every time they can. So they think indexed mutual funds and ETFs, purchased from citizens' wages, is about as much "public" benefit as is needed.

6. Thank you
Biden's not a stupid man.
Consider all he has to arm wrestle just to get a smidge of his original remarkably detailed written plan thru Congress & back to his desk & out the door to the people he wrote the BBB Plan for in the 1st place. |

7. WTHOLYF is this, shit on Biden day?!
"So, why did they let this embarrassment happen?
Who didn't get the memo? Was it Joe Biden himself who miscalculated and thought that our corporate masters would let Americans actually get some benefit, some crumbs, from our amazing productivity and wealth? And why didn't he know better?" Biden plays the shitty hand he was dealt on Jan 20, 2021 He didn't arrive with a magic wand & a solid Congressional majority to make his BBB Policy Plan instant. He didn't arrive with a Corporate Owned Media supporting him, AT ALL. What he arrived with is a majority of the people, & we had but one vote to save our country from a fascist takeover. When every word he speaks & every decision he makes as US President is met with weeks-long derrision via Corporate Media posturing, goddammitt if he cannot produce the big buffet we all wanted because the $Media critics all screech, "Don't eat at Biden's table!! IT'S A TRICK BY THE ESTABLISHMENT, OLIGARCHY, MILLIONARES & BILLIONARES, & JEWS, & HAM-HANDED GODS OF JOE BIDEN & THE DEMOCRATS!!" Hey, fk that bs. Joe Biden ain't to blame for NONE of it. Watch the loudest mouthbreathers on the TV 24/7. CNN. MSNBS. etc.... THAT'S YOUR REAL PROBLEM. GO THERE BEFORE YOU COME FOR JOE BIDEN AGAIN. THANK YOU. |

10. I'm not "coming" for Biden
I'm asking why he thought he could get this plan through, when obviously the forces that actually run this country were going to kill it.
Somebody miscalculated what was possible, and the results are going to screw us all. |

14. The "screw us all" isn't because of Biden's 'miscalculating'
So, should Biden have just not bothered at all?
wth. He was always well aware that it'd be a battle. This isn't his 1st go around with opposition. He's dealt with this his entire successful career. There's more than 2 opposing factions coming at him with eyes on his total demise. He miscalculated nothing. He played the hand he was dealt knowing if he writes the biggest, all encompassing BBB, he will have to get the most he can with the fight, but as with all policy negotiations & especially in this divided legislature, compromises will be made & negotiations will take place up until the final vote is counted. It is pitiful that he has to compromise at all, but in the end that Something he will get is by far more than the Nothing that some would prefer to hand a waiting America. Pass this, & immediately work towards writing a bill to add what this one had to set aside. Biden didn't 'miscalculate' anything. I will be really interested in seeing who actually casts that NO VOTE, not because they didn't get all they demanded on round one, but to intentionally tank the legacy of Joe Biden & the Democrats & take a piss on the waiting American people. Spite & a power grab while tossing the middle finger to Americans will be their legacy. Not Joe Biden's. |

18. From "Biden must be an FDR transformative president with bold ideas" to "Not enough votes
to be transformative because Biden doesn't have the supermajorities FDR did in Congress? Oh my, how embarrassing. Why didn't he think of that in the first place?"

12. Same old "Why did Democrats allow/let ____ happen?" "Why didn't Democrats stop ___?"
They know everything that's going to happen in the future so WHY DID THEY ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN? The usual insinuations that Democrats don't know what they're doing, are sitting around, bringing noodles to knife fights, spineless, cave, etc.

15. He got $500B for Climate/infrastructure.
So what you suggest, will certainly happen if the bill is tanked by the brilliant theory that "Nothing is Better Than Something"
The same brilliance that convinces us that 2 Billion is actually 'Nothing'. That's how we reach your conclusion. "Soon we'll need to wade across rivers, need 4-wheelers to drive from town to town, etc. " Call for the Vote & watch who decides the fate of this country. |

16. There is a reason
To NOT allow Medicare to offer eye, dental and hearing in actual Medicare. The scamming Medicare Advantage draws seniors away from the actual Medicare, and that’s the GQP plan to privatize Medicare completely. When they take away enough from Medicare it will not be solvent and that is the scam. Fuck Joe Namath, Joe Montana and DynoMITE. Harvesting old folks into the scam.

17. Thank You! 1st & best truth to this issue I've read yet
@JS
My guess is we are very close to a deal on Build Back Better. It will have a lot of good, even great items. It will leave out a lot of good, even great items. Dems need to rally hard around the good items that made it. Then they need to begin crafting a 2022 reconciliation. Goes for the Medicare scam as well. Like Joe Biden says, Build Back Better. But caution is also key with a proposal this big. Thre are items that specifically need their own debate & discovery time. The Medicare issue is one of them. |

23. I'm one of those who got scammed, and I've seethed for months over it!
I also read there's no way out of it, to go back to plain old Medicare and I'm seething all over again. I haven't lost every marble every marble I ever had; thought I was smart enough to find my way through all this crap. And let me tell you, it's all a LOT of crap with no one you can trust to help you weed through it all. NO WAY should anyone who has made it thru to our age have to do it for yourself, your spouse, AND your danged parents. Add in there helping any kids you may also have needing help on top of that. That's a full time job right there. Forget anything else in your life you need to divert attention towards... and if you have a chronic illness on top of that, or dealing with a parent in a nursing home who has suddenly cleaned out the parent's bank account leaving no money for THEIR MedAdv account? You find yourself up to your eyeballs in insurance issues and medical issues and chronic pain issues and no one to help and everyone "helping" saying "here, sign this..." and no idea what's good, what's evil, and instead, checking dates under which something came to be.. hoping if it came before or after *Rump it was okay. THAT is NOT a good marker.
I've got chronic issues. I got scammed on my Part "c" because I was afraid of losing out on part "d" because of my chronic medical issues. Hubby's had 2 heart attacks and has blood issues. After spending a year with me, My sis and I put Mom in a memory care nursing home with dementia and aggressive and hostile attitude and behaviors right at the start of C19 lockdowns. We're in Kansas, where Repubs killed Medicaid with something called "Kancare." Utterly useless... IF you can get on it. We're still trying to get her on it. So far, nursing home has cleaned out Mom's account. Sis and I are scared we're going to end up with mom back with us and let me tell you, that will be ugly. She really is mean, aggressive, and hostile. She wants to go to the hospital where she can be waited on, and when it doesn't happen, she wants to go home and yells at everyone at the hospital til it happens. Which means, she gets sent to behavioral health (psych ward) until Medicare stops paying for it. Her heart is strong. I've always said she'll outlive me. No way should families have to go through this year after year after year, while resources and mental facilities decline each year. Insurance companies know this and take greater and greater advantage of it year after year after year. I damn Bush the junior, under whom most of this crap came (if I remember correctly). And for sure, one person in the family should not be designated the "goto" person for all questions for all generations where all insurance is concerned! (LOL) Sorry... This is a total pet peeve of mine. I've been in this position for too many years. First with Mom, trying to figure out hers while trying to figure out mine from work. Then, with Mom while she was fighting me while I was being taken advantage of by Aetna after my retirement. And now, that I believe hubby and I both need to change, and Mom's account is broke. Used to be you only need to worry about the IRS before you died. Now it's the damned insurance companies!!!! |

24. So sorry
Thom Hartmann hits this issue consistently. I got caught up in it myself. They are lying weasels. The VA was going to have to restructure any care I got unless I dropped it and went back to REAL Medicare. It took me 1.5 years and a lot of pressure on their ass from the VA. And I was under a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan. You would think they are legit. So sick of seniors being scammed out of SS and Medicare. Those predictors need to be put down. The lowest scum on earth. The scam is right out in our face, and every network promotes it in every commercial break. I hope you and your family can find a way out. This is the GQP’s most horrific scam. They are coming for Social Security next. We should never have allowed Reagan to start taxing our social security. While billionaires still whine about a tax, any tax on them.
I get daily Advantage mail trying to fish me in. Had to get Robo Killer AP to block the dozens of scammers everyday to swindle me out of SS and savings. And no one is trying to arrest these thieves. |

The populace can go to hell. They just want everything, right Mitchell? The nerve to want to survive. Disgusting isn't it? Maddening right? Deny them everything so slavery can be "re-instated". Works in KY I'm sure. PS. Burn in hell Mitchell. Denied 9-11 rescue workers any compensation and against every social program that actually benefits Americans. F You.
