Congress voted to hold him in Contempt on the 21st of October. What's next ? Does congress have to formally refer that to the DOJ and did they do so? What's the timeline on the DOJ announcing they will pursue charges ? Does this typically take days, weeks, months ?

(18,123 posts)There's no strict timeline for how much time the Justice Department will take in deciding whether to move forward with the prosecution. And it's not absolute that Bannon will be charged.

This one probably will be, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they waiting until after the courts have weighed in on the privilege claims - which could take months. And there's a good chance that the DOJ won't answer questions about it while they're waiting.
So sit back and get comfortable. There could be scores of posts like yours in the coming months (each a little more upset that the "J" in DOJ is fading).
It could happen quickly... but I wouldn't bet on it. My preference would have been for the House to ask a judge to enforce the subpoena first.
