If this world civilization survives it's possible our intellectual children will expand out into the solar system as engineered creatures who can walk naked in harsh places like the surface of Mars.
Providing we humans are a good parent species maybe they'll take us along for the ride but we'll never be more than passengers, dogs riding in the car with our noses pressed against the windows.
