New Republican talking point being floated....

So my Mom was watching one of the Sunday morning talk shows this AM and she said that one of the Republican hit men was saying Democrats were giving away $400,000 to families that were separated as a result of Trump. Wasn't sure where this was coming from. Is this complete B.S? Did one family get this as part of a legal settlement?

That would likely be a major coffin nail that could destroy us politically in 2022 and 2024, and thus dramatically speed up the rapid descent of the nation into a hybrid white nationalist/christofascist hellscape and/or kick off the attempted dissolution of the union of the states.

Probably the US should not do this settlement, but rather wait for a court order-- that will allow justice to be served and minimize political damage.

on Central American immigrants, hoping that this would cause them to abandon their asylum cases and deter other Central Americans from seeking asylum or other immigration relief in the United States,” the lawsuit said.

I think they’re being sued due to violations of the law.

People close to the settlement agreement say that $450,000 may end up being roughly the average compensation, but that the number will vary. Some parents may not receive any compensation at all, depending on any criminal charges against them. Others still have not filed tort claims.

"Joe Biden gave a thousand illegals $450,000 each."

There will be no mention of Trump when they tell this story on Fox, Newsmax and OAN. It will just be "socialist president gives away money to illegals". It will be repeated over and over and all the stupids will believe it.

It would be better for each lawsuit to be settled separately with Trump's policy and incompetent handling of the family separations with the rightful blame for this disaster.

newsmax or oan don't vote for democrats, so it doesn't matter what they think. Those networks could say "Joe Biden is now a toothless, lizard brain racist just like you!" and they still wouldn't vote for him.

They take the lies to other voters we need. Tonight we lost former democratic voters to the CRT lie in Virginia.

Base wins, yes, but margins are thin. How we frame things matters.

Sadly, I think this is the politically smart move.
