Elon Musk says he will sell Tesla shares to help world hunger – if the UN can prove where the money is going (CBS)

Last week, the director of the United Nation's World Food Programme said if the world's top billionaires just donated a fraction of their worth, millions of people who are at risk of starving to death can be saved. Elon Musk, the second wealthiest person in the world, said he'd give up some of his wealth – only if he knows exactly where the money is going.

David Beasley, director of the World Food Programme, said on CNN last week that a "one-time" donation from the top 400 billionaires, whose net worths are ever growing, in the U.S. could help save the lives of 42 million people this year.

Honest offer or cheap publicity stunt?

It's not as if a man of his means needs to go through the UN if the aim is to feed people.

While he can afford whatever it is he wants, he can’t buy what he most needs.

Musk doesn't even pretend to pay attention to what he is responding to.

As a condition for his stellar generosity, he wants the UN to prove that $6 billion can end world hunger. WTF is he talking about? Didn't he just read that the $6 billion estimate refers to saving 48 million lives who are in immediate peril right now, not to ending world hunger?

A cheap bait and switch trick on Musk's part.
