Fairfax County is reporting a 26.1% turnout with 3 hours yet to go.

Combined with 23% from early turnout, that puts us at 49% overall. The 2017 Gubernatorial election had a 49% turnout.

Stupid Americans. The trend of making it harder to vote every year has a little to do with it. Personally I think more people would vote if they could do it from their home. We're using a 1700's form of voting in the 21st century.

1) Low Dem turnout. That's not happening. Dem turnout is expected to exceed 2017 turnout.

2) Voter crossover. This is all Youngkin has left. It comes down to how many Biden voters Youngkin gets to vote for him. This was the big concern with Loudoun county. It's a blue majority county, but has more swing voters than a county like Arlington, and the whole school fiasco thing there may turn Dem voters towards Youngkin.

I just voted in Fairfax, and was surprised that virtually all the sample ballots handed out were red. Turnout is always light at our voting place, so this is probably not representative of the rest of the region. At least I hope so. Loudoun County concerns me. They’ve latched onto CRT and they’re pretending that it’s a school issue, not a race issue. I’ll be thrilled if McAuliffe pulls this out.

But today, is looking like a good day, people!
