Not the best optics that the two most recent Democratic presidents couldnt pull McAuliffe over the finish line. Needless to say, Ill be avoiding Twitter for the next few days because all the pricks are going to be yucking it up for a bit.
McAuliffe lost far more so because he ran a bad campaign as opposed to the towering mediocrity he was against running a good one.

(1,654 posts)This makes 11 times out of 12 that Virginia has chosen a governor of the opposite party of the president. McAuliffe in 2013 was actually the only one to break that rule.

(16,472 posts)I'm googling and finding headlines like "too close to call" and "dead heat." That's certainly concerning, but nobody's calling the election for Trumpkin yet as far as I can see.

(11,875 posts)In the end, it's the old saw... Republicans fall in line, and Democrats fall in love. They did not love McAuliffe.
It did not help that the MSM has been beating up on Democrats in general, nonstop, since Biden took office.
I think we will pull out of this when we pass the transformative legislation before Congress.
