I hate to be so negative but I can’t pretend things that have happened haven’t happened. They won a long time ago, we’re just coming to the coup de grâce.

They played the game to win. We played it like it was a fair fight with clearly defined and enforced rules.

A setback in Va., without a doubt. Progressive ideas and politics have between building over the last decade. I see the castles of sand built by the other side being finally washed into the seas of history. The arc of history has been progressive, no reason to start despair and depression over the results of a single state.

Add the Dunning-Kruger effect with confirmation bias and apophenia and we've got trouble.

Who knew it would be so easy and so fast to hollow out the federal government of the US? We already stand on the cusp. The energy is with the minority (30% - 40%) who are full of vile hate.

However, the pushback you are getting and will continue to get is from those of us who are still holding out hope that we can turn this around. If enough of us give up hope the other side really will win. So work for the good, throw your energy into the good, and bring others with you.
