General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsMy son just won a town council seat in Silver City, New Mexico!
Final count for District 2: 266 - 95. It's a landslide! A mandate! He will now head the committee on police reform.
EDIT: I just came across the Grant County news on his entering the race.
Do you huddle close together because you love each other?"
What will you answer? "We all dwell together
To make money from each other"? or "This is a community"?
~ T.S. Eliot, "The Rook" 1934
We are a community of communities in a time of uncertainty, change, and challenge. For now, the rains are plentiful, the price of copper is good, and home prices are up. Beset with seemingly endless construction, Ridge and P.A. roads are a pleasure to drive and cycle on, and the expanded sidewalk and trail system are starting to connect our neighborhoods, and soon, towns. The continuing work of Silver City, and Grant County, shines as an example to, not only, our state, but also our neighboring states and our country. Just look at all the license plates.

(29,668 posts)Congrats to both of you! Chip off the ol block, eh?
Heh heh. I don't know about the "chip off the old block," since he's his own man by now.
And so I take no credit or blame. I'm just really proud of him.

(1,294 posts)My husband and I seriously considered moving to Silver City at one point wonderful co-op and herb store; I don't know if they're still there but we ultimately had to pass as it was too far from intensive medical care.
May your son legislate for many, many years!

(3,471 posts)..have always been my focus bc of direct contact with citizens..can help more people resolve problems that specifically pertain to them--probably the most demanding as well. Best wishes to your son.

(43,162 posts)that's a great thing, but only momentary relief, because he's just the front for Big Corps that's slowly getting toward nullifying American humans' governance of this longest standing democracy.
The truth is that we are not safe until there aer serious consequences for Jan 6 and other crimes committed by the Slobfather and his goons.
I watched Raffensperger on CNN this morning saying that the Slobfather threatened him to find votes and yet there are no charges all now.

(58,785 posts)but would this have happened if you'd spent his childhood badmouthing politicians and insisting there was no one to vote for? Quite possibly, but give yourself a little pat. I'm feeling proud of you too, DU Mom.

(43,162 posts)I linked this thread to my son so he and his voters in Silver City could see the wider support that he, they and the party have!
We need to get behind our people in all the states and not just DC, because that's where DC comes from.
I love this place! Did I ever tell you that?
I LOVE DU!
