We allowed Republicans to localize the race. We tried to nationalize the race by just making it about TFG. According to exit polls he wasn't even a factor. We also wasn't helped that gas prices are sky high and we are having shortages. They usually blame the governing party for that and we had no message to counter that. Sorry this is even hard for me to hear after I predicted that Democrats was just going to fine but we a lot of work to do between now and November 2022.

If people are happy they tend to vote to keep things the way they are, if they are unhappy they vote for change.

(1,731 posts)About one-third of Virginia voters said that the economy was the most important issue facing Virginia, according to preliminary network exit polling. That was followed by about one-quarter naming education as the most important issue in their vote. Fewer than 2 in 10 said taxes or the coronavirus were their top issues, and about 1 in 10 said abortion.
A majority of Virginia voters said the economy in the state was either excellent or good, with almost half saying it was good, rather than excellent, according to early exit polling. About 4 in 10 said the economy was not so good or poor.

(1,731 posts)If " it's the economy, stupid" is still law, what can be done to reach these voters? If the folks in charge are not responsible for the good economy, then who is responsible?
I think we need to realize the fact that our politics are tribal and that's that. I don't believe it is about ideas or values anymore. It is simply a numbers game. Get more of our team out for the win.
I've seen folks talking about the numbers ( potential voters) out of rural areas. There is still more votes to get out of the urban areas, too.
