Are Democrats too genteel? Too respectful of rules and norms?

Lacking in a (politically) killer instinct? Too pedantic?

While this is a binary poll, hopefully some comments will be offered to explain why you see it one way or the other.

And discussion works. We think the nuance and complexity of issues need to be discussed.

We are now dealing with a mass of people that need to be told what to think, in tiny black and white sound bites.

It's the same issue with the academic community. They think facts always win out in the end, that evidence speaks for itself. It doesn't, and they don't.

The GOP is successful in part because they appeal to base emotion and sentimentality. Their campaigns are literally devoid of facts and evidence.

If we have to be more like them to beat them we will become them.

We need norms and our institutions to remain intact. If we falter and fall from it we need to be able to return to them. Ultimately it is up to We The People.

We should fight like hell but we cannot trade in doing the right things in order to win.

Then we are looking at a different reality than what we have.

We are at a crossroads as a country and we may lose the fight. At least for a while. When people are this nuts in this large of a number I am not sure what you can do. When you cannot reason with THEM, the answer isn’t that WE are doing it wrong. The answer is that THEY DO NOT WANT TO LISTEN.

It’s like dealing with children. Sometimes they need to experience actual consequences for their actions before they understand. It sucks but that is what we are going through. I feel bad for people in red states.

Fascists know it and exploit it.

Democrats don't have to become raging asshole criminals, but there needs to be a definite forceful show of strength at all times, and a powerful response to the fascists.

Example: It's been almost three weeks since scumbag Bannon flipped the bird to House Democrats. Almost two weeks since it was sent to DoJ (example 2: why the damn delay?). Is he in jail or testifying? No. He's free as a bird, on his podcast gloating and continuing to spread his propaganda shit.

admonished for our ignorance regarding how our laws and procedures work, as if none of us complaining have first hand knowledge on just how swiftly the arm of law enforcement responds to ordinary citizens on far less serious infractions.

media, especially social media. We refuse to acknowledge the need to manipulate the conversation using the media, especially social media. And we refuse to use their own psychology to manipulate them.

There is nothing against the rules and norms in doing that. There is nothing illegal about it.

Is it a tad unsavory? Yes. But the ramifications of not doing it are disastrous.

We need to make them feel foolish in their own social media silos, and we need to make them see they are being conned. Then we need to show them the alternative.

But we need to do it using their own fears and failings. The other side is using psyop experts who understand this. RepubliQan rank and file will believe anything when it is presented in a way that uses their own fears and failings. You know how I know? JFK Jr told me yesterday on his way to Dealey Plaza.
