General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI generally hate posts that just crib other people's tweets. That said, Ana Navarro nails it here.
For your consideration. I think she's 100% spot on.

Critical Race Theory is not a real thing taught in K-12. But Republicans effectively used it scare and outrage parents and turn out the vote.
January 6th IS a real thing -an act of domestic terrorism threatening our democracy, but Republicans want to pretend it didnt happen.

(81,421 posts)the top of our lungs that it is an advanced college course and say it EVERY time they bring it up!
This is what the democrats should do
.although they wont
Forget about trying to win over or convince the south and parts of the mid west that the democrats are for them. These people are lost to the right. We can pass bills and regulations to help them, but quit trying to get them on our side. I live in South Carolina and know that its not going to work.
Instead
..
Stop pandering to the moderates in the party. Concentrate on the progressive agenda for the country. The reason many are against the progressives is because they dont understand what these programs will do for them. They must be passed and enacted for the masses to finally have them see, instead of them listing to the right wing, and thinking they will become Socialists.
Concentrate on the top democratic stronghold states that will be get the electoral college to 270. The winning amount of votes needed to win the WH.
Quit trying to win republican stronghold states. It wont work, and havent worked since the Dixiecrats.
Concentrate on the top 26 states that will allow a 52 seat majority in the Senate. The senate is the most important body in politics. We can get nothing done without the majority in the Senate
go back a few years and think about this
..if we controlled the Senate, we would not have Kavenaugh, or Comey. We would have had a better grip on Trump
( To a point ), but would have had control of all committees.
Keep pushing to keep the house, but if it fails, not to worry. The house is secondary now
Quit trying to elect someone who is not qualified, but fits a meme. If a woman is best, then we push to elect her, not because shes a woman, or gay, or Asian, or black, etc, but because SHE is the top qualified person for the position. We have many qualified young candidates that never get a chance because we elect older candidates that may not be better, but there longer
.this must stop.
These are my opinion and anyone can take them with a grain of salt, but our party has totally lost its way, time to punt, regroup and win this midterm election in one year
.. we can do it.

(17,293 posts)R's use little sound bites--- CRT, WMD, fake news, stolen ballots, to name a few, time we learned what
works. Could start using Fascist/Fascism every time we mention one of them.
And welcome to DU!

(5,122 posts)Trump, and the Republican Party, are Traitors!
Republicans are liars.
Republicans could care less about the working class.
Lock Him Up!
There are so many sound bites we could use but we don't, for some reason.

(81,421 posts)I agree with the blow off the bad guys (I know, I know - Im grossly oversimplifying) and focus on WHERE we can get something accomplished.
The other states? Dont bother anymore. Theyre a waste of time, good effort and good ideas. And they wont appreciate it even when we try to do something good for them. Theyll still hate us and wish us ill. So put em on ignore.

(82,383 posts)Not allowing pundits to influence them so much. The problem is voters who let the media make up their minds for them. Jefferson thought the Republic was safe so long as everyone could read. He could not have imagined todays situation where people make their own reality.

(81,421 posts)It reinforces their fucked-up world view. Im more inclined by now to consider trying to convince them as just another exercise in futility.
What was Our Lords advice to His pals? Shake the dirt of your sandals and just move on - to some place where people are friendlier and more receptive.
A rather elegant way of saying screw em.

(90,348 posts)... people who've done shit like this in the past and when they're not quickly and correctly punished they try it again in other forms which is EXACTLY what they're doing now.

(28,082 posts)It's been said before that Democrats use too many words. I'd add that we think voters are snarter and paying more attention than they are.

(43,189 posts)I get that sometimes there's a tweet that is too good not to share, but there are a lot of posts on here that are just other people's tweets without their own personal input.
Just a personal thing, I guess.

(45 posts)Republicans play the fear card, playing on emotions--fight or flight. It's information warfare, and conservatives have it down. Chaos is good for them.
And the media loves this crap. They get the clicks!
The Democratic Party needs to respond with clear, factual and pragmatic actions over and over--loudly, otherwise fear will inundate any positive message Democrats might provide.

(7,403 posts)But it is not a required subject in college so only a tiny segment of college students study it. Indeed, there are prerequisits that must be met in order to even take it. Indeed, my guess is that less than 1% of college students take the course.
