Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said the “unbelievable” Republican victories in Virginia’s statewide races Tuesday validate his concerns about inflation and moving the $1.75 trillion reconciliation package too quickly through Congress, The Hill reports.

He added: “You can read so much into all of that last night. I think it should be a call to all of us have to be more attentive to the people back home.”

validates his concerns.

Congress doing nothing validates his concerns. Hate to see how we lose even more after Congress actually does something.

Well, if we're losing while Congress is doing nothing, and still lose if Congress takes action on a $1.75 trillion dollar bill... might as well go out in a blaze of glory and pass the damn thing.

Fuck him. The voting pattern for the state of Virginia should have told us keeping the governorship would have been a real fluke. In election after election, Virginians have turfed out the new President’s party in favor of the opposition.

No - this is more self serving bullshit from ManChin. If he were a real Democrat he would realize that losing in Virginia makes the passage of the President’s agenda even more pressing. It’s now or never.

Dem senator defends Koch brothers

https://www.politico.com/story/2014/04/dem-senator-defends-the-koch-bros-105570

Sen. Joe Manchin on Thursday strongly defended the Koch brothers from attacks by fellow Democrats, saying the wealthy and politically active businessmen are taxpaying Americans who are creating jobs.

“People want jobs. You don’t beat up people. I mean, I don’t agree with their politics or philosophically, but, you know, they’re Americans, they’re doing— paying their taxes,” Manchin said on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.”

“They’re not breaking the law. They’re providing jobs,” he added.
