(3,546 posts)My son in S. Carolina and her family in the south know of him and like him. He is a fighter and doesn't take no bull.
He was the guy that put up a gay pride flag outside his office window and the repugs would take it down. This went on for quite awhile. Every time he put one up, they would take it down. He said he didn't care how many times he would buy another flag because each time he would also make a donation.

He's pulling in big bucks from small donors all over the country -- he's not an unknown.

(12,480 posts)He's a no bullshit kind of guy and he would make a stellar president. Somebody ask him to run for us.

(12,480 posts)But not on the Fetterman issue.
I learned about Fetterman from a segment on TV.
Than I found more stuff about him and wished he'd run for president.
Fetterman would be eviserating the fascists...

He was running for some official position.
And they were commenting on his biker style, his sense of humor and such.
It was a good while ago. It was a blurb on my local station.

And he still made Lt. Governor.
So the Pa. Party must have believed he did not act out of racial bias.

(8,090 posts)Fetterman maintained he initially had no idea of the race or gender of the jogger he stopped after reportedly hearing gunshots.
That man, Christopher Miyares, ended up just being a 28-year-old area resident who was simply jogging, reportedly wearing all-black running clothes at the time, with headphones atop his ears.

(32,713 posts)you'll have asked A Blackman. Stop judging a group by one man or one incident. You might, just be asking a "Blacks for TFG" member.
My job is to open minds to multicultural ideas. No 2 people are exactly alike or think the same thing. So lets judge him or her the heart, not the group we has assign them. Was JFK perfect. You are a nurse, do judge all doctors the same. There really great ones and really bad one. Does anyone do something questionable? I've made mistakes and try to do better. I get judged by all time by different kinds of folks. My SO is a nurse and the best person on earth according to me. That doesn't mean there aren't some that are in the wrong job.
look at the big picture of him, this article does that and brings up a lot good things about his actions

I just think he is the person, at this time for the job. I've been wrong before. Everyone on both sides go after Biden. I think he is great, but I'm only one vote. Looks like it's time now a fighter, down in the dirt and mud fighter.
I hope you will support him if he is our choice.

(36,130 posts)A Harvard degree is impressive -- not just his size and progressive attitude. The OP is provocative, true, but it could also provide his bona fides, since it's talking about the presidency.

It's great to get a presidential candidate from a battleground state. How about him running with Kamala Harris? East Coast -West Coast, male-female, black-white, and the fact that he would scare rethugs shitless at the thought the kind of president he'd be if they even thought of fighting Harris by their usual means.

(65,179 posts)..before putting him as a main Presidential candidate. I agree that him being VP first is also possible.

(32,713 posts)How about TFG, he got the job by having a tv show. Looks like not being VP can go both ways. I'll wait until we get closer and see what the polls say. A lot can happen in the mean time.

(32,706 posts)... however he has just launched his campaign to run for Senator Pat Toomey's (R-PA) seat. Fetterman has a good chance of flipping the seat to D next year.

I believe he's quite popular in western PA (where I live) but I don't know how he comes across to those in the eastern part of the state. As for running for POTUS, I've never heard that it's in his plans to do that. He'd make a damn good Governor some day though.

(6,905 posts)not that' that's a whole lot. I would definitely like to see him in the Senate before considering any higher office. We could at least count on his vote, as opposed to some Senators i can think of.

(1,323 posts)Hes not what I would traditionally think of as a President, but I can see it during these times. Fetterman is intelligent, well spoken, down to earth, and has a great sense of humor. He also doesnt put up with any crap. I think he could potentially win over the blue collar workers who havent completely gone around the bend, while not alienating (most) Democrats. One controversial incident should not rule him out.

(54,430 posts)Fetterman is neither, of course, and definitely seems quite the individualist. But PA Senate is one thing. Facing up to Putin and a new rudder-less, Merkel-less Europe is quite another. For now, I'm happy with the Biden-Klobuchar style of leadership.
Nine years ago, I got to sit down with Barack Obama for an hour. We talked about health care costs, election integrity, Syria, Putin, even the Egyptian economy's ripple effect on its Arab neighbors. He was perfectly comfortable discussing those and other subjects--knowledgeably and coherently--without notes. I want THAT kind of president. We can always go for show when we can afford it. Right now, we can't.

(54,430 posts)I just dont think he would pull in more votes than a non-Trump Republican in a presidential race. The soccer moms of suburban Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee and Cleveland matter more than Tom Wolfe when it comes down to counting electoral votes. Even in 1995, Bill Clinton was asked who he was for in some sports event between a team from Arkansas and a team from California. He asked how anyone could be so cruel as to make him choose between the team that he loved and 54 electoral votes in the next election.
