Ukraine now says 90,000 Russian troops not far from border

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine complained Wednesday that Russia has kept tens of thousands of troops not far from the countries’ border after war games, as part of its attempts to exert pressure on its ex-Soviet neighbor.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s statement marked an about-turn from its denial of any Russian military buildup — as reported in U.S. media — just two days earlier.

Not good. To add, the last time they mobilized near the Ukraine border, they did pull the troops out from the old Soviet bases. But left all the equipment (tanks, artillery, etc.) behind with a small force to maintain it.

Could be just saber rattling given Ukraine's recent push for inclusion to the EU and NATO. But you never know if they decide this is the time. I don't believe they will take the entire country, just the eastern and southern part.

Real question is, did they make a deal with Romania and Poland quietly?
