Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been fined at least 20 times, adding up to a total of $48,000, for refusing to wear a mask on the House floor. According to a letter from the House sergeant-at-arms, Greene received her first warning in May and was later fined $500 for the first offense. For the rest of the 19 subsequent offenses, Greene was fined $2,500 each time. The rule that House members have to wear masks on the floor has largely remained in effect since it was first announced by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last year. According to CNN, many GOP members have ignored the rule and been fined as a result. The fee is paid from the violators’ salaries.
