There is a lot of talk about us getting beat because of this and that. For school closures, for CRT (or really just teaching history in general), trying to gove medical coverage to people, trying to lessen peoples educational debt, etc on and on and on
.
If that is what is beating us for doing it then so be it. I would rather we lose for doing and trying to do the right things that to not do them in order to stay or gain power. At some point it will be on the people in this country to finally wake up. I am exhausted with Americans who fight for the people who do not have their best interests at heart.

(30,935 posts)Some things are worth losing elections over, Joe Biden. Weve got this weird attitude towards governing now, that people get elected just to get reelected, there seems to be nothing in between or any reason or purpose for them taking the job.

I agree with your sentiments but there has to be a bigger picture goal. It does no good to be the party of good things if we can't get elected. Staying in power isn't the goal. Avoiding backsliding while we are out of power is.

(38,526 posts)There's a HUGE disconnect.
Expanding medicaid is popular
Higher minimum wage is popular
higher taxes on the uber-rich is popular
investing in infrastructure is popular
For some reason, and I really don't get it, people either don't vote, or they vote against the things they like.
(Though I imagine between voter suppression and gerrymandering, it might not be the disconnect that is the problem.)
