Reading about a San Francisco cop, Jack Nyce, 46, who was among the 41 officers put on leave for refusing SFs Nov. 1st vaccine requirement.
He tested positive for covid Tuesday 11/2. His symptoms got so severe, his wife called EMTs to rush him to the hospital. He died Saturday.

(197 posts)"According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, COVID-19 is the number one killer of law enforcement officers in 2021 so far.
The page reports 269 officer deaths due to COVID-19 in 2021, with the second leading cause of death listed as gunfire with 54 deaths."
So five times as many cops have died from COVID than from gunfire. I'm thinking the NRA needs to get on this tout de suite. I mean, if the solution to gun violence is more armed citizens, then shouldn't the solution to COVID violence be fewer restrictions on obtaining it? Allowing open-carry of COVID without a background check?

(14,495 posts)So sad what the right-wing has done to us. A family has lost a loved one (most likely to bull-headed stupidity) and SF lost its investment in a police officer.
