Haven't been watching so can't do a link.

(9,041 posts)The defense portion is clearly rehearsed - any attorney would.
But I want to see how it goes with the prosecutors.

(36,926 posts)Portraying himself as somebody who just wanted to offer first aid. Can't wait until the prosecution gets hold of him.

(36,926 posts)Also, killing and wounding people is hardly first aid.

(18,501 posts)Was also illegally carrying a gun so I wouldn't hammer that point too hard if I was the prosecutor.

(861 posts)I think Kyle's gun was illegal since he was too young to own and carry it and he crossed state lines with it. The man he injured was an adult.

(18,501 posts)To buy the rifle but he didn't cross state lines with it. It was purchased for him and given (another issue deserving to be addressed) in Wisconsin
The person who was shot previously had a permit to carry but it had expired so he was not legal that night.

As others have said, it will be interesting when the cross-examination starts. He is pretty nervous in this, the rehearsed part. I look forward to seeing him melt down under serious questioning.

(19,187 posts)If you went by how he described himself, he's every mother's ideal son, the all-American boy, a paragon of virtue!
I had to turn it off. I like good fiction as much as anyone, but I know when someone is blowing smoke up my ass. This little shit didn't go to Wisconsin to offer first aid. He went there because he wanted to shoot people. "Mission Accomplished"!

(73,513 posts)the jury finds him as repulsive as I do. Back when I worked at the clinic, we had a guy about his age who fancied himself an EMT, fireman, and police officer, and frequently got in trouble for attempting to insert himself in incidents that did not require his fantasy of being a hero. But he didn't kill anyone.
The constant gesturing, changing expressions, etc are hard to watch. As is his weeping.

(18,501 posts)He took the stand after the prosecution did so poorly. If he falls apart on the stand the door that opened will slam shut.

(73,513 posts)prosecution case did you think was poorly done? I haven't watched that much of the case, in part because I think the judge had been acting as the lead defense attorney in the pre-trial hearings that I did see. He reminded me of Judge Hoffman from the Chicago Seven trial, although he insured the defense had plenty of issues to appeal on.

(18,501 posts)But most of the prosecution witnesses appeared to give testimony that supported the self defense claim. The person who was shot but survived admitted he was shot only after he pointed his gun, not when it was in hand.
After testimony that the first victim was shot while down on the ground he admitted on cross that the wound could also have happened to a person charging with a lowered head.
The narrative that the shooter pursued the first victim was shown to be incorrect and was exactly the opposite.
That is a lot on the side of reasonable doubt, which can all be overcome with one statement from the defendant.

(73,513 posts)I did see part of the testimony of the fellow who was shot and survived. He was not a very good witness for the prosecution. A jury's decision is frequently influenced on who is likable. He was not.

(5,554 posts)The prosecution's opening statement included a claim that Rittenhouse was chasing Rosenbaum prior to the first shooting. It came out very quickly in both video and witness testimony that the opposite was true
Missteps on their part allowed the defense to get in that Rosenbaum was bipolar and had depression, and was off his medication.
Grosskreutz's testimony was a trainwreck, he was very poorly prepared.
The medical examiner also shouldn't have been called, as the testimony that Rosenbaum's hands were on the rifle when it was fired also really weakens the case.

(19,187 posts)a very accomplished liar. Of course they've prepped him for weeks on his testimony.
After you repeat a lie to yourself so many times, your mind begins to believe you're telling the truth.
He's a creepy little nazi. 😳

(19,187 posts)He went walking around looking for more people with whom he could administer last-aid. He still had plenty of ammo left.

(46,684 posts)The protesters thought he was an active shooter and Rittenhouse had no clothing to suggest otherwise. He also didn't have the experience to understand that he was in way over his head. We just can't allow people to do what he did without proper training.

(19,187 posts)I imagine him wearing a Nazi SS uniform, his eyes gleaming with delight whenever Rittenhouse describes shooting those people who so viciously "ambushed him".
Yes, those were his exact words. He was "ambushed".

(7,290 posts)crying and coughing and putting on a real show, but after the judge called a break and jury left, he walked across the room in front of the camera very briefly and no crying that I could see

(41,938 posts)I dont think its fake. He has good reason to. He killed three people. He was in a state of mind where he seems to have been delusional (not as in insanity defense, in the way that can let you do such a thing) and it might be occurring to him hes not a hero and he straight up killed people. And should be punished.
