Take some time off, get some exercise, regroup, listen to Peter Tosh and Start all over again!
You can't give up now - for the sake of the children

(14,033 posts)I tell people to do what they can to help the world. I volunteer for Democrats, at the animal shelter, and donate to a few worthwhile charities. Outside of that is beyond my control and I try not to let it affect my mental state. Just keep fighting, everyone, and dont succumb to cynicism.

(269,157 posts)Chilling is as important as activism - I walk in the morning four days a week, exercise daily and ride the stationary bike at night on the other three days. I like cooking shows, game shows and books to relax, but I will never stop fighting the racists and fascists.
Great job...I need to get into the balance side of things more

(14,932 posts)I fill it up with friends, family, nature, music, art and art making, regular and artisan craft making, photography, streaming tv and movies, a modest meal out here and there, etc.
Sometimes it really runs low, and I have to replenish it ...
This way I can continue to try and do my part to ease cruelty, and raise up fairness, and justice as I can.

(14,932 posts)best, and always learning.
My folks esp my mom (because I was around her more) hated cruelty, and believed in fairness. My dad got me involved political stuff when I around 12.
So put these two influences together, and there you go.
Oh, yes, the Garland news has definitely lifted my spirits...
I was doing my best not to be over taken by impatience, slipping at times bc I knew they had to get everything airtight!

electric_blue68
(14,932 posts)"My Boy Lollipop" in ?'64. Ska was a favorite of British Mods so it carried over to the USA.
Later when Punk from CBGB's in '74/'75 went to Britain, and influenced bands, then bands likeThe Clash helped promote ska, and reggae bands esp playing them between sets when they were the headliners.
So NYC Rock, and Alt radio would pick up on The Specials, Madness, etc and Bob Marley and the Wailers, Toots and Maytals, Peter Tosh, etc

electric_blue68
(14,932 posts)so many things come our way! Luckily I appreciate different styles so the more is the merrier.
Both my folks loved music, and I picked up on it: classical, movie soundtracks, later some opera.
As for pop, rock stations - post The Beatles and British Invasion they mixed it up with Motown, Stax. So we had all that., too.
RIP Millie
