(4,906 posts)Contempt of court* would go before a judge, but this is contempt of Congress. Ultimately, it could go to a trial by jury. I'm not sure what the intervening steps would be after he's arraigned, should Bannon decide to testify, or if he has any right to try to quash the indictment.
*(There is an offense called Criminal Contempt of Court, which can result in a trial, but it's not relevant here. That's what that lunatic sheriff in Arizona was convicted of, because he refused to follow a direct judicial finding/order related to his arrest/incarceration 'habits'.)

(31,620 posts)was appointed by Trump and according to Dan Goldman don't expect the trial to happen for months. Then there will be appeals, then Kornacki time.
We are in a world of hurt if we can't pass S1. Gym Jordan will be head of the judiciary committee so look for president Biden to be impeached on a regular basis. God help us if they win the Senate because the filibuster will be gone the first week.
