Ohio attorney general sues Meta over 'Facebook Papers' revelations
Ohios attorney general has filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms, alleging the company formerly known as Facebook misled the public about its algorithm and knowingly exploited its most vulnerable users, including children, to drive profits.
In a lawsuit filed Friday on behalf of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and other investors, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost alleges that company executives repeatedly made false claims about the safety of its platform and the efforts it was making to protect users.
The suit also names chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, Chief Financial Officer David Wehner and the companys head of global affairs and communications, Nick Clegg, alleging that they knew the company was falsely representing how its products affected users but didnt correct the record.
A Meta spokesperson said the suit was without merit in an email to The Washington Post. We will defend ourselves vigorously.
