Rick Scarborough is feeling good about his chances of having conservative Christians take over the school board in Houston, Texas, because the good news is most people dont vote. Were gonna win this Houston school board if the church shows up.

(2,636 posts)The GOP has lied to the religious right for 40 years. They lost on school segregation, and they needed to politicize the churches. Used to be the Right didn't approve of or want to fund Catholic parochial schools. Why, that's tax dollars for a religion....
Wait? You mean my lily white kids have to go to school with black and brown kids? Oh, heavens no. So they glom onto abortion, a Catholic issue at that time, to get the apolitical church goers to vote, promising them an end to women's personal right to privacy and autonomy. Suddenly, CHristian schools pop up, and lo and behold, the GOP wants to pay for private school for white kids; meanwhile, they do NOTHING about abortion, because they're focused on teh gay.
They aren't interested in governing, just ruling over uneducated poor people because their narcissism says greed is good, and that the golden rule is he who has the gold makes the rules. Money is their god.

So, Rick does know what he is talking about. It's a damn shame and not sure how to engage voters to f@@king vote. I can't stand to see registered voters just not giving a care in the world.
