Rupert Murdoch says Trump should move on: 'The past is the past'

Conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch is publicly rebuking former president Donald Trump — telling him to get over the past and to focus on the future.

Trump — who continues to allege that the 2020 election was “rigged” against him, including recently in News Corp’s Wall Street Journal — should move on, billionaire Murdoch, 90, said Wednesday during News Corp’s annual shareholder meeting.

“The current American political debate is profound, whether about education or welfare or economic opportunity,” said Murdoch, whose family controls Fox News’s parent company, Fox Corp. “It is crucial that conservatives play an active, forceful role in that debate, but that will not happen if President Trump stays focused on the past.”

“The past is the past, and the country is now in a contest to define the future,” Murdoch continued.

2. Conservatism is the antithesis of progress

Not only is it living in the past.... it's dead in the past.
A rotten ideology that has never benefited the world in any meaningful way.

Just light the pyre and let it go.

5. That's why I like to call us "progressives" ...

... because the opposite of "progressive" is "regressive" and the latter word perfectly describes right-wingers. Right-wingers have been on a decades-long campaign to turn the word "liberal" into a dirty word. I resent the fact that I can no longer use that good, noble word to describe myself, but maybe that's a good thing because "progressive" is actually a better word. Maybe we should all seize this opportunity to start relentlessly calling right-wingers "regressives" until that label starts to stick to them.

4. the Trump cult is alive and well

The mystique is not dead out here in the heartland of the USA. Trump and the fascist ideology he supports is alive and well out here, it is going nowhere. As long as this guy has breath in his body he will seek vengeance on anyone that dared to defy him over the years, including the American voters. What frustrates him more than anything is that people could and did freely speak and vote against him. He will never forgive that, and if the Republicans hold Congress in 2024 we are going to get to see if he can make the coup work for him the second time around.

6. Murdoch doesn't understand Trump

Trump can NEVER admit he lost, because it would make him a "loser." Trump will never change on this. Too bad for Murdoch and his regressive agenda.

Now just put your extensive money where your mouth is and have the WSJ, FOX, NY Post and all the rest of your holdings dump Trump.

We’ll see.
