(14,853 posts)That's like someone complaining about fossil fuels, but suggesting that we could combust hydrogen instead. And it wouldn't require so much storage space if it was attached to carbon molecules.

(44 posts)What I find particularly ironic is that the most rabid anti-vaxers I know all seem to have tattoos. And, none seemed to have done a similar critical analysis of the dangers of injecting of heavy metal into their dermis layer. On the contrary, the medical arguments and critical reasoning in both arguments seem to have taken a back seat to peer pressure with a dash of aggressive ignorance.
The solution to this problem is not going to come going down the road toward individual enlightenment. The only time that is going to yield a road-to-damascus moment in the unbelievers is when they are dying on their covid death bed and by any measure that is too late.

(128,961 posts)but around the rest of the world, including the most distributed COVID vaccine in the world - AstraZeneca's, those use some type of adenovirus-type platform (most of them) similar to Janssen's (J&J) or another platform (DNA-based, recombinant, etc).
There are currently only 2 mRNA vaccines currently approved here and in a number of countries around the world (with what appears to be 4 others "in development" outside of the country, including 2 in China) - https://www.raps.org/news-and-articles/news-articles/2020/3/covid-19-vaccine-tracker

(2,062 posts)he's referencing the fact that the Covid vaccines are made of mRNA fragments and are, technically speaking, not the attenuated form of the whole virus that vaccines have always been. So he could be considered semantically correct, but still way off target. If I was in a forgiving mood, that is ....

A poster above has essentially confirmed that it's real.
But, given to whom it's attributed, I have no doubts he actually posted that to twitter.

(10,252 posts)a weaker version of the virus that helps us build up immunity. Obviously another pea-brain, who flunked high school biology. In 1796, Brit Dr Jenner demonstrated that infection from the much milder cowpox provided immunity from small pox. George Washington vaccinated his troops against small pox. Vaccination has been a proven effective protection against all sorts of diseases for over 200 years. This is not rocket science!
BTW I just had my booster this past Friday. My arm was slightly sore at the injection site for 1 day. And if CDC says we need a booster every year, I'll get mine along with my flu and pneumonia vaccine shots.
Getting my shots and wearing a mask sure beats the hell out of going into the hospital (assuming there's a vacant bed) and getting a tube shoved down my throat and a catheter shoved up my ying-yang.

(12,467 posts)Along with flu and pneumonia shot. I did that and omg my arm was useless, had a low grade fever awful aches
It was nasty. Lasted like 4 days.My other moderna taken with no other shots I had just some tiredness.
And I would rethink getting all those shots at the same time.
