Biden and aides tell allies he is running in 2024 amid growing Democratic fears

This is great news

President Biden and members of his inner circle have reassured allies in recent days that he plans to run for reelection in 2024, as they take steps to deflect concern about the 79-year-old president’s commitment to another campaign and growing Democratic fears of a coming Republican return to power.

The efforts come as the broader Democratic community has become increasingly anxious after a bruising six-month stretch that has seen Biden’s national approval rating plummet more than a dozen points, into the low 40s, amid growing concerns about inflation, Democratic infighting in Washington and faltering public health efforts to move beyond the covid-19 pandemic.

The message is aimed in part at tamping down the assumption among many Democrats that Biden may not seek reelection given his age and waning popularity, while also effectively freezing the field for Vice President Harris and other potential presidential hopefuls.

But I don't think he really will. He wasn't going to run in 2020 but he was polling higher than everyone else who had entered the race. I think he got into it to save the country from another Trump term. Which he did, thank goodness. And he's delivering for the American people.

I think a lot of Biden's votes would have gone to him, and the endorsements would have came too. He probably would have also beaten Trump.

It was unfortunate that someone from the next Dem generation could not generate enough momentum in the primaries but here we are. I like Harris but I think there are folks, even some Dems, who will simply not vote for her either because she is female or of color or both. It's sad in 2021 that qualifications are not the final determining factor for many people still, but the neanderthals live and, unfortunately, vote

She didn't win a single delegate in the primaries. Was the reason for that because of racism or sexism? Some, sure. But not for the vast majority.

I didn't vote for Kamala mainly because I don't like former prosecuters in executive positions. They tend to be too black and white on issues and authoritarian in my experience. I liked Buttigieg but his experience in a large executive role was lacking. I really worry for the future of the party without a stronger candidate base, especially nationally.

Incumbency is a strength going in to an election. As long as he wants to and remains healthy, I see no reason for him not to run.

regardless who's running.

Even those Republicans that I have considered to be moderates in the past have bought tickets on the crazy train.

Incumbency is one of the greatest advantages in American politics regardless of polling numbers. They were never going to forfeit that.

as long as he's needed and can do the job. Of course.

It should be clear to Americans by now that he answered a call to serve his nation and is committed to doing everything he can to bring us through these very dangerous times.
