There is a Youtube-channel I used to regularly frequent. So, the Youtube-algorithm recommends this guy's blog-posts to me.
Yesterday, things went a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit out of control.
First he posted how happy he is with the verdict.
Shockingly, some of his followers, including me, did not share his enthusiasm.
Then he posted that Rittenhouse had every right to defend himself against the pedophile attacking him because he tried to rape him. (One of the people Rittenhouse killed had child-porn charges in his past or something like that.)
Still, his followers somehow didn't agree with him, e.g. by pointing out that Rittenhouse should have stayed home and leave the law-enforcement to the cops.
Then he posted how everyone who disagrees with the Rittenhouse-verdict is a pedophilia-supporter.
And theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen he posted how it might be necessary to (quote) "pull a Kyle Rittenhouse" on the people who disagree with him.

(42,033 posts)One of the victims spent 14 years in prison for child rape. He was not a decent person, but regardless no one had the right to shoot him in the street.
It is sickening that anyone makes a hero out of Rittenhouse.

(69,347 posts)This YouTuber took it one step further. Rittenhouse shot the guy in self defense because he was defending himself against rape? In the middle of a protest, surrounded by dozens of people, including law enforcement. Uh huh.

(38,686 posts)Apparently he had a fiance despite his lengthy prison term.
He'd been released from a mental health hold because of a suicide attempt just prior to the protest/riot, and was yelling "shoot me" at the paramilitaries.
Young idiot Rittenhouse cut himself out of the herd and Rosenbaum pursued, yelling "fuck you" and chucking his bag of socks and underwear. Was he suicidal? We'll never get to ask.

(1,617 posts)And from a perspective of understanding mental health better in this country I'm sad it wasn't explored.
Rosenbaum apparently never went there to protest in any real sense and likely was having some sort of episode (my apologies for not knowing the medical term) the whole night. In the midst of all that chaos a mentally ill person was trying to sort out the current state of his life and was sucked up into the chaos.
I don't say that to excuse his crimes of child molestation, but for whatever reason he was out so I'd assume he paid his dues to some reasonable extent. We'll also never know why the prosecution didn't put Ziminsky on the stand as he would have been able to fill in a LOT of details since he fired the first shot and was right there when Shittenhouse dropped the fire extinguisher.

(2,502 posts)and dropping their charges in exchange for testimony, is that their testimony would not have helped. They both are facing multiple misdemeanors and a felony arson charge. The prosecution could have easily dropped those and offered immunity for testimony. Especially for a double homicide trial. But they didn't. Instead they decided to hinge their entire prosecution on a blurry still image of a video. Instead of calling up the man they claimed Rittenhouse pointed his gun at to testify as such, or his wife who likely would have witnessed it, they instead just pinned it all on a single image. Makes zero sense unless they knew the Ziminski's would not have been helpful to their case.

(23,063 posts)Kyle Rittenhouse will not lose his either. And while he may think he did a manly thing, its likely there will come a time when he wishes he could start over. But he can't.

(9,043 posts)But how so?
Was he wearing a sign, "I'm a pedophile, shoot me"?
Or maybe he just looked like a pedophile, and Rittenhouse was afraid he'd get raped.
Reality is that Rittenhouse had never seen his victims before, and knew nothing of their past.
He just shot them. It was so easy for him. Show up at a tense, violent situation with a gun and the rest was so predictable.
