"SNIP......

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) said the Republican party’s vilification of members of Congress who have criticized Donald Trump or supported bipartisan legislation is “ruining America,” The Guardian reports.

Said Sununu: “That’s kind of that social media mob mentality that’s built up in this country where we don’t agree with one issue so we’re going to attack them, we’re going to vilify one person or one individual. We’ve got to get beyond that, because culturally, it’s really, really ruining America,”

He also specifically noted that House Republicans “have their priorities screwed up.”

shutout of the Conservative leader who followed Trump policy on the sly. Spoke out of both sides of his mouth. And rejection of pro covid Premier of Alberta who wanted people who tested positive for covid to walk around freely in the public. Without those two things, there would not be a Liberal win. No doubt New England is much like Canada: pro democracy people are not loud themselves but will march to the voting booth and not for authoritarians.

It's the Senate GOP who are ruining America. The House ones are fucking amateurs by comparison.

There was a time in my lifetime when many (certainly nowhere near all) were often reasonable people with whom I had significant differences about policy. Sununu's handling of the pandemic in NH was largely pretty reasonable, with some exceptions.. I disagree with the guy about a variety of things and long for a Democratic governor, but at least he isn't out of his damned mind about most things.

then the rest follow the line of wanting to become dictators, filling their pockets with the riches of the country while torturing and screwing the rest of the people.

Those are their priorities.

We need to come to terms with the following:
1. republicans don't care about history, so that thing about "history will not be kind to them" is bull, they don't care about it.
2. It is not the "party of trump", trump is just a decoy who will be released when his usefulness runs over, they all hate the guy.
3. Continue following Rachel Maddow's advise, "don't worry about what they say, worry and fight what they do" (paraphrasing and adding)
4. We all need to become activists even in a small way. We do that by continually educating those around us who are politically-ignorant, who have no idea of what the future holds if the GOP thugs get their way. By contacting our Democratic leaders to push them to fight harder, to not allow republicans to get away with their lies.

And of course there is more we need to do...Feel free to add to the list.

I know what they're against, but what exactly are they for. Nearly zero of them have any actual interest in legislating. They're all their to be famous, make money, grift. It's sort of obvious.

18. It's good to see a prominent Republican like Sununu speaking out like this.
Sun Nov 21, 2021, 08:55 PM
Nov 2021

McConnell was actively trying to recruit Sununu to run for the Senate, because Sununu is such a prominent and highly respected Republican. And Sununu basically told him where to stick it, saying he didn't want to be part of McConnell's jacked up version of the Republican side of the Senate and would rather stay in NH where he can actually get things done. I thought that was glorious, and I'm glad to see Sununu is still at it, still letting people know exactly what he thinks of the current version of his party.

This kind of stuff is important, because Sununu is someone who other Republicans respect, and at least some of them will listen to him. He's just one person, but it has to start somewhere. Considering how brainwashed most of the Republicans in Congress are acting these days (aside from the ones that aren't completely batshit crazy), I find this kind of thing refreshing.

I forget if it was CNN or MSNBC, but he seemed more interested in dancing around that kind of thing rather than stating it directly. And upholding the GOP world view. Maybe that's the difference between talking to print media and talking to the TV folks.
