Joseph Adams Milteer, a rabid right-wing racist was tape-recorded 13 days before Dallas detailing the assassination of JFK "with a high-powered rifle from a high-rise office building." In the discussion recorded by FBI informant William Somersett, Milteer outlined the official version of Dallas, complete with patsy, before it happened.



Seems he was prophetic, as two weeks later, Milteer or his lost twin, appears in photographs in Dealey Plaza (above, right) should have made the front page and lead every broadcast when FBI Special Agent Donald Adam’s went public with his account, but it didn’t, for some reason.

Somersett: Kennedy’s coming here, I think, on the 18th or something like that to make some kind of speech…

Milteer: You can bet your bottom dollar he is going to have a lot to say about the Cubans because there are so many of them here.

Somersett: Yeah, well, he will have a thousand bodyguards. Don’t worry about that.

Milteer: The more bodyguards he has, the more easier it is to get him.

Somersett: What?

Somersett: Well, how in the hell do you figure would be the best way to get him?

Milteer: “Oh, yeah. It’s in the working…

Milteer mentions the name of a Klansman who might do the job, someone he claimed had stalked Dr. King, “but couldn’t get close enough to him.” Shortly, the conversation returned to the President.

Somersett: Hitting this Kennedy I’ll tell you is going to be a hard proposition, I believe. Now you may have it figured out how to get him…an office building and all that, but I don’t know how them Secret Service…they’d never cover all them office buildings and anywhere he’s going. Do you know whether they do that or not?

Milteer: If they have any suspicion they will, of course. But without suspicion the chances are they wouldn’t….You wouldn’t have to take a gun up there…take it up in pieces. All those guns come knock down and you can take them apart.”

Before the end of the tape, the conversation returned to Kennedy.

Somersett: Boy, if that Kennedy gets shot we’ve got to know where we’re at because you know that would be a real shake if they do that.

Milteer: They wouldn’t leave any stone unturned there, no. No way.

Somersett: Oh, hell no.

Milteer: Hell, they’ll pick up somebody within hours after, if anything like that would happen, just to throw the public off.

Somersett: Well, somebody is going to have to go to jail if he gets killed.

Milteer: Just like Bruno Hauptmann in the Lindbergh case, you know.

President Kennedy came to Miami on Nov. 18 without incident and attended the Inter-American Press Association dinner at the Americana Hotel in Bal Harbour. In his diary, Gelber wrote that police assured him the Secret Service knew Milteer’s whereabouts.

Five years ago, on commission from Atlantic Monthly, I began investigating a Chicago conspiracy to assassinate President John F. Kennedy just twenty days before Dallas. When I asked the wrong questions and came too close to sensitive information, I was followed and investigated by a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) operative. By examining my own files, I identified him and embarrassed the DIA into halting the harassment. There’s a record of their "project" in the credit bureau where it began, Credit Information Corporation (named Cook County Credit Bureau at the time). The DIA’s inquiry listed my employer as Atlantic Monthly, although that assignment was my only work for the magazine.

Unfortunately, the harassment didn’t end until after my apartment was broken into. No valuables were taken. But all my files were obviously and clumsily searched.

But that was five years ago, before Watergate, a different era. Today, when reporters edge close to dirty government secrets, it is the agencies that become nervous. And they think thrice before attempting the retaliation and tactics once common to the game.

My investigation, revived within the past eight months, took me to New York, Long Island, Houston and Washington as well as through courts, warehouses, police stations and federal offices in Chicago.

Hundreds of hours scrutinizing federal, state and local documents, dozens of interviews, hundreds of leads. And always with the Secret Service and FBI working against me. Doing what they could do make the investigation tedious, time-consuming and expensive. Perhaps they hoped the investigation would just disappear for all the obstructions.

I hope they now know they must come up with the answers. It is simply unacceptable to wait until the 21st Century for the release of seventy or so top secret Warren Commission documents.

14. Penn & Teller proved that things do move toward

the shooter when struck by a high power bullet.

They set a melon up on a fence post and shot it with the same make of rifle Oswald used. The melon jumps toward the shooter.

The reason is simple: As the bullet exits the back of the melon, it creates a stream of debris behind the bullet, this jet stream of debris causes the melon to move in the opposite direction of impact.

It is counter-intuitive, but it is physics. I tried it out myself and that is exactly what happens.

Don Adams RIP: an FBI agent who didn’t buy the official theory

Don Adams, whose career as an FBI agent spanned 22 years, never really bought the official line of his own employer: that Lee Harvey Oswald, acting alone, assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

Adams, who died on June 14 at age 83 in Akron, Ohio, eventually wrote From an Office Building with a High-Powered Rifle (Trine Day, 2012), in which he argued that “the FBI’s investigation was compromised from the top down, beginning with FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.”

“I have learned that crucial evidence was withheld from me as an agent investigating a planned assassination of the president, just weeks before it actually took place,” Adams wrote.

“He never believed Lee Harvey Oswald was the shooter,” his son, Mark, a career police officer, told the Akron Beacon Journal. “One of his FBI assignments was to investigate a man [Joseph Milteer] who had threatened to assassinate the president who claimed Kennedy would be killed from an office with a high-powered rifle. He found out that the man was in Dallas when the president was shot, but was always puzzled as to why he had limited access to the man.”

In an interview with the Akron Beacon Journal published last year on the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination, Adams, a former chief of the police force on which his son now serves, said he didn’t think Oswald killed President Kennedy and that he was a scapegoat in a conspiracy that reached the highest levels of government.

Adams recalled being shown the Zapruder film shortly after he was transferred to the Dallas FBI office in 1964 and, on seeing Kennedy’s hands go to his throat, remarking that the shot must have come from the front, not from the behind Kennedy’s limousine.

“Don, keep your comments to yourself,” he was told.

It isn't a stretch to believe it likely that crucial evidence was withheld from Mr. Adam PER J. Edgar Hoover.

Hoover gave cover to the Mafia throughout his career and he hated the Kennedy family personally. Just as the Mafia did after Bobby went after them in Congress and then as Atty Gen.

Everything I've read over the decades since Kennedy's assassination points to a collaboration between the Mob conjoined with the CIA and I've long believed Hoover gave tacit approval by knowing in advance.. A Conspiracy based on conjecture, but with a lot of known facts. Keep learning new things that solidify the case...

12. I was just a six year old kid when he died,

but the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite was on every night as I was growing up. As the bodies piled up, John, Bobby, MLK, Medgar Evers, Malcolm X you would have had to be a dullard not to see a pattern.

In eighth grade I had the world's worst history/social studies teacher. After exams we went to the auditorium to see the Disney film "Tonka" that was supposed to teach us about Custer's Last Stand. When Custer went down the auditorium erupted in applause. She marched our class out of there and tore us a new one, telling us what a "great American hero" Custer was. Pretty bad when 12 year olds watching Disney knew better.

I was a super shy book worm, it set me on the path of reading real history. I had a big sister who had a very eclectic taste in books and one hell of a reading list. "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" and "God is Red" were both on it. From there it was "Peoples' History,"" Howard Zinn, and "Lies My Teacher Told Me." That was when I was below 18. A few years back I read Tim Weiner's history of both the CIA and the FBI, chilling, but at that point, not one bit surprising to me. Another really terrific one was "Chinese Mirage," James Bradley. The abject failure of our Chinese policy is actually pretty embarrassing.

So yeah, that thread of ignorance through out our history that Isaac Asimov observed? Scares the living hell out of me.

Vietnam Withdrawal Plans

The 1990s saw the gaps in the declassified record on Vietnam filled in—with spring 1963 plans for the complete withdrawal of U.S. forces. An initial 1000 man pullout (of the approximately 17,000 stationed in Vietnam at that time) was initiated in October 1963, though it was diluted and rendered meaningless in the aftermath of Kennedy's death. The longer-range plans called for complete withdrawal of U. S. forces and a "Vietnamization" of the war, scheduled to happen largely after the 1964 elections.

The debate over whether withdrawal plans were underway in 1963 is now settled. What remains contentious is the "what if" scenario. What would Kennedy have done if he lived, given the worsening situation in Vietnam after the coup which resulted in the assassination of Vietnamese President Diem?

At the core of the debate is this question: Did President Kennedy really believe the rosy picture of the war effort being conveyed by his military advisors. Or was he onto the game, and instead couching his withdrawal plans in the language of optimism being fed to the White House?

The landmark book JFK and Vietnam asserted the latter, that Kennedy knew he was being deceived and played a deception game of his own, using the military's own rosy analysis as a justification for withdrawal. Newman's analysis, with its dark implications regarding JFK's murder, has been attacked from both mainstream sources and even those on the left. No less than Noam Chomsky devoted an entire book to disputing the thesis.

But declassifications since Newman's 1992 book have only served to buttress the thesis that the Vietnam withdrawal, kept under wraps to avoid a pre-election attack from the right, was Kennedy's plan regardless of the war's success. New releases have also brought into focus the chilling visions of the militarists of that era—four Presidents were advised to use nuclear weapons in Indochina. A recent book by David Kaiser, American Tragedy, shows a military hell bent on war in Asia.

In the name of antiCommunism, they proposed launching a secret and bloody war of terrorism against their own country in order to trick the American public into supporting an ill-conceived war they intended to launch against Cuba.

I am still searching, but I remember reading that after the presentation, RFK said, “Now I know how Tojo felt.” JFK, I recall, asked Lemnitzer, “When is the best time to attack?” “Fall of 1963.”

Which helps explain the “all roads lead Oswald to Moscow” circumstantial evidentiary trail.

Yes, yes, I know. That phrase was on everyone's lips in 1963, and you could barely get a word in edge-wise between all of the bottom dollars.

05/62 = Milteer sold the city of Quitman some property for $20,000

05/18/62 = Milteer and G. Seals Aiken (Chairman and Founder of Constitution Party of GA) published pamphlet entitled “The Last Days of the Republic: Urgent Call to All White Christian Voters in Georgia”. Milteer listed as “Organization Director, Constitution Party of GA”

04/63 = Milteer attended meeting of Congress of Freedom in New Orleans.

09/14/63 = While in Tuscaloosa AL, Milteer contacted a United Klans of America member whom he told that Martin Luther King and AG Robert Kennedy were not important because there was “a Communist conspiracy by the Jews to overthrow the United States Government.” [FBI-HQ 157-1233, serial #3, 1/22/64 Atlanta Special Agent report re: Joseph Adams Milteer, page 14.]

10/10/63 = Milteer was in Miami and distributed leaflets urging people to attend the meeting of the Constitution Party in Indianapolis on October 19-20, 1963. According to Milteer, the Party was going to appoint a Board of Directors to supervise an “Underground Army”.

25. Many people can't accept that parts of the government misleads, deceives and occasionally

outright lies about various things. So in order to fit Ruby into the "lone nut madman" Oswald theory of the assassination they turn Ruby into some sort of romantic figure who killed because of his love for Kennedy.

I did not see your thread but Ruby was involved with the mob for decades. For those who doubt that, they can go to a library archive which has the Chicago Tribune. Ruby was involved in the killing of a reform Scrap Iron and Junk Handlers Union official whose union the mob had targeted to take over. On December 9, 1939 there is a picture of Ruby (his name was Rubinstein -- he changed it to Ruby when he went south to Dallas) and a article about his arrest in the shooting on the front page of the Tribune. Ruby did mob work in Chicago for 10 more years and then went to Dallas to work in mob businesses there.

Then when Congress HSCA re-examined the JFK assassination in 1976 and asked about CIA-Mafia ties, CIA obstructed the investigation by assigning Oswald’s New Orleans watcher or handler, George Joannides, to serve as “CIA-HSCA liaison.”

I’d like to add:

CIA didn’t even bother to mention their own liaison to HSCA — George Joannides — had been Oswald's handler in New Orleans.

I am no longer confident that the Central Intelligence Agency co-operated with the committee...

I was not told of Joannides’ background with the DRE, a focal point of the investigation. Had I known who he was, he would have been a witness who would have been interrogated under oath by the staff or by the committee. He would never have been acceptable as a point of contact with us to retrieve documents. In fact, I have now learned, as I note above, that Joannides was the point of contact between the Agency and DRE during the period Oswald was in contact with DRE.

That the Agency would put a “material witness” in as a “filter” between the committee and its quests for documents was a flat out breach of the understanding the committee had with the Agency that it would co-operate with the investigation.

The committee’s researchers immediately complained to me that Joannides was, in fact, not facilitating but obstructing our obtaining of documents. I contacted Breckinridge and Joannides. Their side of the story wrote off the complaints to the young age and attitude of the people.

They were certainly right about one question: the committee’s researchers did not trust the Agency. Indeed, that is precisely why they were in their positions. We wanted to test the Agency’s integrity. I wrote off the complaints. I was wrong; the researchers were right. I now believe the process lacked integrity precisely because of Joannides.

Significantly, the Warren Commission’s conclusion that the agencies of the government co-operated with it is, in retrospect, not the truth.

That’s not all they forgot to mention. CIA entered agreement with Murder Inc. in 1960 — before JFK and RFK were in office as President and Attorney General.

AUG 1960: Richard Bissell meets with Colonel Sheffield Edwards, director of the CIA's Office of Security, and discusses with him ways to eliminate or assassinate Fidel Castro. Edwards proposes that the job be done by assassins hand-picked by the American underworld, specifically syndicate interests who have been driven out of their Havana gambling casinos by the Castro regime. Bissell gives Edwards the go-ahead to proceed. Between August 1960, and April 1961, the CIA with the help of the Mafia pursues a series of plots to poison or shot Castro.
