Okay, this was not necessary...

But I'm gonna do it anyway.

In case you haven't seen it there is a story in Florida about an eight-year-old girl, Fiona Lashells, who has been suspended from school DOZENS of times this year for not wearing a mask:

https://www.wkbn.com/news/national-world/florida-2nd-grader-suspended-38-times-over-mask-mandate-could-flunk-out/

Well, I just had to assume that her parents are rocket scientists, so I googled the mom. This is the "About Me" page for her photography business.

Now, I'm a grammar nazi, but I usually try to suppress it because I know I can make dumb mistakes in emails and posts, but this is her WEBSITE! It's not like she can't go back and fix mistakes.

My name is Bailey Lashells and I am the owner of Lashells Photography based in Palm Beach County, Florida. After starting my own family in 2013, then shortly after my business I realized how true it is that family is the most important thing to each of us. Whatever stage you are at in your’s let me help create memories that you will treasure for a lifetime. I pride myself on making my clients comfortable in front of the camera even if that sometimes means being a bit goofy behind it, especially if you have little ones or a husband like mine. Together we will make sure your memories our captured exactly how you envision them to be. Don’t worry if your thinking “but can she do this with MY kids”, with 3 of my own and years of experience I promise we can get thru it together. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have after checking out my site. I look forward to working with you in the future.

I found at least five mistakes, and not just style and preference, but actual mistakes.

I feel for her kids.

I would say that’s about the writing level of a fourth grader.

But she has really problems with "your" vs "you're". And "your's" isn't even a word.

Grammatical errors damage creditability! The mother and Desantis should be charged with negligence!

"How do you expect anyone to take you seriously if you don't know the difference between, "there, their, and they're".

then she hit my knuckles with a wooden ruler. I never forgot that lesson..

You could tell if she’d gotten you because that rectangular blackboard eraser sure could leave its mark on a navy blue uniform! You were MARKED! Everybody could tell you’d been “gotten”.

And yeah, they did not tolerate grammar mistakes. But as a writer, I must admit, that discipline has paid off for me, through the years.

I'm proud of knowing how to spell and punctuate.

the possessives still get me though.

14. You should have seen my holy card collection!

If you won the spelling bee, you were awarded a holy card. There were other distinctions and behaviors and competitions and essay tests that would net you holy cards as rewards. Soon you inevitably had a stack of ‘em.

Soon recess became a time of card trading. “I’ll trade you one of these Nativity scenes for one of your St. Lucy with the eyeballs…”. (I THINK it was St. Lucy who was blinded on her way to martyrdom, so she was depicted as holding the obligatory martyr palm in one hand and a tray with two eyeballs on it.)

Catholic school could be gruesome. Sometimes delightfully so, if it was gross enough! All the martyrs who were beheaded, for example, were depicted with a bleeding horizontal cut across their throats. You might say it was Halloween all year ‘round!

There was always the “holy train” response to “Dominos vobiscum”: “et cum spirry choo-choo oh.” Nobody knew what the hell we were reciting, unless one’s Missal had English translations. We’d muddle along with the Latin pronunciations as best (or as mischievously) as we could.

Ahhhhhhh Catholic school. I swear, you go to Catholic school to generate material!

He relies heavily on spell and grammar checkers, and has his friends and family proof stuff for him. I guarantee he wouldn't have received his masters with writing like this.

10. Looks badly copy-pasted; like "Whatever stage you are at in your's"
Mon Nov 22, 2021, 04:53 PM
Nov 2021

One would think she means stage of life, but there is no antecedent "life" that the "your's" refers to. Yes, she talks about her life and then her family and then the importance of family, so the "your's" would seem to refer to the importance of family, which is weird, at best. Of course she could have found the error in proofreading where simply substituting "your life" would have fixed it.

Or wrote something and went back and cut out some bit preceding.

But you can be sure she has done her research! on how bad masks are and how surgeons have terribly short lives due to mask wearing!
