Mary Lemanski, social media manager for the Democratic Party of DuPage County, was let go from her position Monday morning after posting a series of tweets comparing Kyle Rittenhouse to the driver of the SUV that sped through barricades and struck dancers, musicians and others during a Waukesha, Wisconsin, Christmas parade.
It was probably just self-defense #Wisconsin #KyleRittenhouse, Lemanski tweeted about the tragedy that left five dead and 40 injured.
She followed up the statement, replying to a comment deriding her opinion and saying, Im sad. Im sad anytime anyone dies. I just believe in Karma and this came around quick on the citizens of Wisconsin.

(10,599 posts)She failed at Rule #1 of Social Media. THINK before you post something that might be considered out of line.

(9,647 posts)Democrats don't get away with what Republicans do.

(10,599 posts)I don't care whether she's a Democrat or a repub. It was very insensitive given the fact many were killed and injured.
TheRealNorth
(9,647 posts)But when we hold our own accountable, we must point out Republicans are worse and do not hold their own accountable.
SoCalDavidS
(10,599 posts)Given how dumb the comments were, thats not a safe assumption.
Comments like that do nothing to make our side look better. Just enables people to maintain that both sides make insensitive comments.
Im glad she was fired. We should be better than that.

(9,647 posts)We are always playing defense. Republicans always go on the offense when put on the defense. And it works.
SoCalDavidS
(10,599 posts)There was no defense or justification for her comment. You cant go on offense when defending the indefensible.
She was almost implying that the people killed/injured deserved it because Kyle was acquitted by a Wisconsin jury.
TheRealNorth
(9,647 posts)I am not saying we should defend the indefensible. The women should be fired. I am saying we should deflect and attack Republicans for not holding their own accountable.

(10,599 posts)But that's what makes them repubs. Instead of admitting that they're guilty of something, they double down and rally the troops.
I don't know that they're ever going to change. Corruption, Breaking The Law, Acting Insensitive, and generally Behaving Badly, is kind of their brand.

(1,714 posts)What, does she think she's a republican so she can get away with that? Never forget: Democrats have Consequences.
