5 things in Biden's $2 trillion spending plan that could get stripped out by the Senate

ranging from tax cuts to paid leave

House Democrats passed a $2 trillion social spending plan on Friday morning, advancing a key part of President Joe Biden's agenda.

But it sets up a showdown in the 50-50 Senate, where the centrist Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona are influential swing votes who haven't yet given a thumbs up to the House bill.

Senate Democrats want to pass it by Christmas. Here are five provisions that could fall out of the House bill in the next few weeks.

Four weeks of paid parental and medical leave

Lifting state and local tax deductions to $80,000

Cap on insulin prices

Medicare expansion

Immigration

The 5th item listed, the raising of the SALT cap, is far too high anyway, so I have by far the least issue of the 5 things listed if that gets chopped way down, say to around $30K or so. The proposed tax cut as it stands goes almost exclusively (96%) to the top 20% richest Americans and a huge chunk of that part goes only to the top 1%, whose net wealth STARTS at over $11 million and rocket ups from there.

a good balance of helping those in high income / high COL living areas, and not going too far for the benefit of those who are well off.

the deal done, which is why I listed $30K.

$80K is simply too high and is a massive gift to the rich.

If someone is making so much money per year and has such expensive property that they can reduce their SALT by $80K, they do NOT need a tax break, especially as that giveaway to the rich fucks over people at the other end of the spectrum, as programmes for the lower end are being cut out in the name of 'fiscal responsibility'.

That one is objected to by Manchin.

In fact... it's really silly. There is only ONE EV built in the US by union workers... the Bolt.

Even the Ford Mach-E is made in Mexico.
