Man arrested for infant daughter's death after blaming a cat
A Minnesota man who
tried to blame his infant daughter’s fatal injuries on a cat has now been charged in the baby’s death. Charges against Kristopher Dale Arlando Henderson, 39, were amended late last week to include second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony and first-degree manslaughter while committing malicious punishment of a child, The Mankato Free Press reported Wednesday.
The charges against Henderson follow the death of his daughter on Nov. 3, after she was hospitalized on Sept. 23 with injuries ranging from broken ribs to bleeding in her brain, the paper reports.
Henderson initially blamed a cat for the injuries sustained by the baby, including broken bones in both legs, as father and daughter were alone at the time she was hurt, according to the outlet.
Henderson, according to charges, subsequently admitted to hitting his daughter on the back for several minutes in an attempt to quiet her, the paper reports. Henderson at that point admitted he had hit the poor girl hard enough to break her ribs, The Free Press reports.
The baby had “little to no brain activity” by the time she died, according to the outlet.
Bail for Henderson has been raised to $1 million, according to the paper.
