mostly negatively in the aggregate. Local economic activity, the health and cohesion of communities, and the wellbeing of the planet itself are threatened by this speculative system.

3. The evasion of the vaccines is only conjecture at this point

There are 30 mutations to the spike protein in this B.1.1.529 variant. This is concerning in that the vaccines train the immune system with the original spike protein, so that is a kind of Achilles' heel. But as far as I can determine at this point, there is no empirical evidence showing it actually does evade the vaccines.
