* People must not live in poverty.
* CEOs must not receive 30 times the pay of their workers.
* Wall Street gangsters should not exist.
* No child should have to worry about school.
* There should not be subsidies for corporations.
* Politicians should not dictate medical decisions.
* Everyone should have justice-based access to higher education.
* Healthcare is a right.
* Companies should not be permitted to trash the earth.
* Lobbyists should not be allowed.
* Equal rights and equal pay should be the benchmark for everyone in this country.
* No one should be homeless.

(22,998 posts)I am wondering why "No child should ever have to worry about being shot at school" has been changed to "No child should have to worry about school."
I think the original sounds stronger and clearer. The second version sounds kind of vague and amorphous to me. Could you please explain your reasoning for this particular change? Thanks!

Rethuglicans are why we can't have nice things like healthcare.

(91,159 posts)Yep. And "liberal" is NOT a dirty word. It's certainly been shat upon, deliberately and repeatedly. But AS a liberal, for me it's very much alive, well, and proudly embraced.

(2,403 posts)I suggest if you have any republicans in your social circle to print this out and cut each one out into a flash card. Then go through the list of them with your republican acquaintance and place the ones that they can agree with into a pile. And the one that they disagree with into another and then maybe discuss the ones that they dont agree with. Admittedly you may have to change the wording slightly as to not tip off that it is an obvious liberal belief. But I do think that doing this you can demonstrate to them that there are a lot of things that they actually agree with if the surrounding noise is turned down some.
