A lot is being made of polls showing support for stricter gun laws is at a 10 year low.

Can we look at this in context?

57%, a clear majority, want stricter laws on guns and gun ownership.
34% say, 'Meh, just leave them alone we have other priorities.'
A whopping 9% think the laws should be less strict. 9%!1!1!!

Doesn't take much to get gunners all aroused, does it?

Don't make me laugh!

That ship has sailed.

If anything, we have to hope the gun laws don't become more lenient. That's the direction America is headed.

But gun violence and the proliferation of weapons, is essentially an American tradition. We need to accept that.

The Great country that is America. LOL.

Perhaps if Biden came out with a program to give every American a free AR-15, gun owners might actually believe he's not coming for their guns.

Oh.....who the fuck am I kidding. LOL.

As we should be about gun regulation. Any ideas about eliminating the problem are met with mockery and derision. Nobody needs to have a gun, that's why we have police in the first place.

Gun control advocates have lost significant support ever since the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994. If we stopped talking about gun bans, better yet declared no more federal gun bans, we could probably get some things done.

And it's not just in red states as the trends allowing the carrying of firearms in public shows.

Context indeed.

a mile wide and a foot deep. While a majority of Americans will, when polled, express support for many gun control policies, instituting such laws doesn’t rank very high among their concerns (activists aside).

In contrast, gun enthusiasts are much more likely to rank gun politics as one of their most important issues. When acted upon, such beliefs give them political influence out of proportion to their numbers.

Still, a majority of Americans want stricter gun laws but can't have them largely because of gun lobby $.

A majority of Texans did not want unregulated carry yet had it forced on them by a few fanatics.

You blame it all on the US Senate yet the US Senate had nothing to do with Texas' 'constitutional carry'.

I do however agree that the whole senate is a clusterfuck and very much like a national gerrymander where a small minority claims outsized power and I see you agree with me in that if the People had their way there would be fewer guns which are much harder to purchase.

Too many people that think guns make them bad ass or more innocently believe that carrying a gun (except in extremely rare cases) makes them safer.

Far too many guns in circulation that have no true purpose (hunting, sport, actual security).
