(19,458 posts)I recall a fall afternoon in Key West that had a sudden drop in temperature. I think it got down to 72. People rushed home for hoodies and sweaters. I had another beer and hit the pool.

(14,782 posts)50-deg. F at 8:00pm, going down to 33 tonight. Clear skies and a warming trend as high as 62-deg. for the week and no rain 'till next Friday.
Good time to wrap up those last-minute winterizing chores around the property and for vehicles and all those gadgets with a damned gas engine, LOL.
Now that I'm old, I hate the cold....

Thanks for sharing, Malaise....

We're supposed to get a dusting of snow by early morning, then some rain to wash it away.

(14,443 posts)Ill be back in the Keys three days before Christmas so I dont mind, knowing that Ill be home in just a few weeks. Today we went to several Christmas tree farms
my kids have a tree farm and they will be at the point of selling next year so we went to see how business is going for other tree growers in the region. We encountered lines of cars waiting for up to two hours to get a tree, so business is booming. It was fun observing the people heading out to cut their own trees, buying a hot chocolate and sitting around bonfires at the farms we visited. But it was really a good thing that I wore a double insulated jacket because for me the wind was brutal. But then again a lot of the locals were dressed in hooded sweatshirts and seemed to be just fine.

So, for us, it's pretty much normal.

In the meantime, Summer started today. We mark the first of the month - Dec, Mar, June, Sept - as our season beginnings. I kinda remember as a kid that in Europe we marked seasons with equinoxes and solstices. Can't really remember.
What's the tradition where you are sis?
