Interesting graph. Not sure why Phil Scott (R-VT) is so popular, but at least he's not a Trumper.

(9,867 posts)there is a virulent faction of negativity in Oregon thats fueled at least two recall efforts.
Shes not particularly dynamic or inspiring through tough times; more of a steady hand on the tiller.
I have great enthusiasm for Nicholas Kristof.

(82,849 posts)I don't know about Kristof, he may not qualify to run under Oregon law (there's a residency requirement in the state constitution). But Republicans are so screwed up in Oregon that the winner of the Democratic primary might as well start measuring the windows at Mahonia Hall for new curtains.

(7,611 posts)He did have some insider gossip about that Waterbury prosecutor scandal. (I have some insider gossip on that one myself). But I haven't read it in years. Does he have a column too?
I'm sure Ned will survive. Kind of a model on how to do Covid.

(22,345 posts)But all the Trumpsters, antivaxxers, and maskholes in the red areas absolutely HATE the covid mask mandates that he's enacted, even though they've saved untold numbers of lives. They also don't like the fact that he recently signed an anendment removing Conscience' as a basis for resisting covid vaccine mandates. So here we are. Idiots.
What's even more messed up is that he's right between Abbott (50%) and DeSantis (52%), two of the worst governors in the country, especially where their covid response is concerned. And SD'S Kristi Noem, the superspreader queen (remember Sturgis?) got 58%. WTAF.

(65,867 posts)Not sure why hes declined as he hasnt pushed many Covid restrictions lately. I for one wish he would be more proactive on Covid, but hes a good governor.

Dems can't make themselves popular by beating up on the disadvantaged, but it works magic for Uglicans.

(59,877 posts)The biggerand thus more diverseyour state, the less popular your governor will be. There sre exceptions, but that seems to be the general trend. Im not surprised.

(17,747 posts)He has steered a middle course through the pandemic, and it's earned him few friends from either side. He put us under a mask mandate last year, but then it ended and he hasn't done much of anything since. While it might have saved lives to extend the mandate this year, he has left it up to localities to do as they will.
Honestly, people probably would have defied it if he had put up another mandate, so I guess he didn't want to have the kind of backlash they've had in places like Idaho. And at least he hasn't pushed for some of the ignorant legislation that we've seen from Republicans in Florida and Texas. So while I wish we had someone more inspiring, I give him a passing grade for not being as regressive as some.

(4,641 posts)J.B. Pritzker has done an EXCELLENT 5 STAR job here. If you don't like the work so far, you're a moaran, pure and sinmple. Case in point Pre Pritzker election I was paying $455 a month for insulin. J.B. powered thru a law that capped my expense at $35 a month ( after my insurance).
