I recently saw a post here or elsewhere which was in the form of a poster depicting a highway. Overlaid on the photo was bold print reading: "The road to fascism is lined with people saying 'You're overreacting!' "
Maybe they should read "It Can't Happen Here".

(50,949 posts)possibilities are discussed. Both with the creep of fascism in our government and with our response to Covid.
I guess it must be a coping mechanism - ridiculing those discussing bad outcomes distances them from those outcomes and allows them to think those outcomes are impossible. And those who do the ridiculing tend to do so with an air of superiority. The need to project an air of superiority is always the product of fear.
I just wish the group complaining of overreactions would notice that those things we have been told are overreactions to Covid have all come to pass, and there is a definite fascist element positioning itself to gain power in the next election.
It becomes tiresome to wade through these people in every discussion.
