"SNIP....
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy tried without success Tuesday night to end an ugly battle between two of his GOP freshmen, Politico reports.
The California Republican implored Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Nancy Mace (R-SC), in separate private meetings, to stop attacking one another after their back-and-forth online spat dragged on for hours earlier Tuesday.
CNN: Emerging from her meeting, Greene told CNN that both she and former President Donald Trump would back a primary challenge to Mace in 2022.

(25,242 posts)McCarthy most likely knows where a lot of skeletons Tr**p has in his closet. If there was some way that they could engage in a feud - I think that they would take each other out.
McCarthy wants to be the Speaker - Tr**p is potentially getting in McCarthy's way.
There's talk that perhaps even Tr**p would go after being Speaker. (I don't know how that's possible - but I've heard that kind of talk).
So if McCarthy and Tr**p get into battle - maybe they could take each other out.
Just a thought.
I hear that MGT takes orders from Tr**p. Maybe the feud could somehow involve MGT in the middle.

(19,956 posts)by a POS like her. Some have suggested that she'll be speaker if the GOP win the midterms, and unless someone stops her gallop in the next few months, that could happen.
if she became speaker, she would be right that she IS the base of the Republican party.
It would be disastrous for them.
And I don't think Jim Jordan would let her leap over him.

(19,956 posts)rat's behind about anyone in the GOP. Knowing no shame even for Washington, will allow her to shatter even the plunging depths that the likes of McCarthy would baulk at. I'd be surprised if Gym could hold her back when she clearly has the ear of Trump.

(58,785 posts)This sucked me in, and I checked to see what was happening. Mace is the one we want to hold Boebert's head under the mud, but good guy is definitely relative, and I'm just left grateful "AOC" (name slung as a mud ball at some point) declined to leap in. And happy that this kind of thing might threaten Republican dreams for the midterms.
There are no moderate Republicans in the house, but supposedly being worried the party's openly racist extremism might threaten their reelection is what passes for "moderate" these days. "Moderates" want McCarthy to tone it down or someone might be forced to break obscurity and issue a statement. Mother Jones's take: "The rest of the GOP caucus has spent the last five years desperately trying not to do the right thing, and they certainly arent interested in speaking out publicly now."
From Slate's description of the uncontrolled backbencher mud fight:
Well, as you saw in this series of tweets, Mace parried early with a classic dunk template: the spelling correction, in this case of Greene writing the possessive your instead of the contraction youre. Mace made this her pinned tweet. But then, later in the feud, Mace left herself critically vulnerable: She used principle instead of principal.
Greene had 14 minutes to destroy Mace for this spelling error. She wasted them, as Mace was able to correct herself first.
Is this still a developing situation?
We guess? There will be more tweets, more characters, more calls, more statements, more bigotry. There will always be more. There has never not been more.
Should I continue to follow this developing situation, or would my time be better spent doing absolutely anything else? Should I perform community service, or clean up around the house, do my job, take care of my kids, watch the Beatles thing, stare at the wall, eat dinner, etc., or continue to follow thisa bunch of House members taking shots at one another on Twitter?
You should definitely keep following this.

We should have a warehouse with 78 people using this incident to foment division among republiQans in the same way the 78 bots created a worldwide misinformation campaign.
But I bet we don't.
