I personally do not believe in abortion but I myself am I hypocrite for using forms of birth control. It is not my right to tell someone else what to do. I am a Democrat and I believe in all forms of life I do not believe in the death penalty or War. United States is not a religion like the Republicans think it is

(10,599 posts)I wouldn't be surprised if it is.
They've been itching to get prayers introduced into schools for almost as long as they've been trying to deny women the right to control their own bodies.

(47,245 posts)And every year some shithead who is trying to "preach morals" to everyone gets caught in a sex and/or money scandal.
And there are plenty of would-be theocrats on TV, the radio, and the Internet.

(97,265 posts)Or do you mean your church is against birth control and you used it anyway? Thus feeling like a hypocrite because you were taught birth control is bad?

(17,911 posts)If a woman's birth control pills fail and she has an abortion to keep from carrying the pregnancy to term, she is possibly using abortion as a method of birth control. A lot of women have abortions because they feel it's not the right time for them to raise a child. I don't know the figures, but it might even be that most abortions are done for reasons other than health reasons. Some people think that it's wrong to have an abortion for any reasons that aren't medical. I don't see why that would be the case. Not wanting a child is just as good a reason as any to have an abortion, in my opinion, and shouldn't be stigmatized.

(97,265 posts)One prevents a pregnancy. One terminates a pregnancy.
In one a pregnancy exists to terminate. In the other it doesn't.
That's what I was responding to - some people are taught that contraception is the same as abortion - both evil.
Yes, I do understand what you're saying. I really do.
I don't care why a woman chooses abortion.
I don't care if she uses contraceptives.
I don't care what any religion teaches about either.
I am a woman. I support abortion.

(11,155 posts)are deciding when or if you have a child. If more people did that then the issue of abortion would be far less of an issue. It's called "Family Planning".
If you want to bring religion into it then that is something that I cannot begin to discuss.
For me the issue of birth control by any means is your choice. The government has no role in that very personal decision.

(20,982 posts)I had both my children post Roe. Having an abortion never crossed my mind.
I did use Birth Control from early 1972 to early 1974. After the 2nd child born in 1977, we chose a more permanent option.
Should the next go after be all forms of Birth Control, including sterilization, look for organization of groups against Republicans at the state and federal levels like we have not seen. Government Control of this crosses the line of personal freedoms and overall liberty of decisions.
