Feedback on an idea, please.

First, a bit of background.

I've detested politics since I was a kid and listened to my Dad talk politics every chance he got. He didn't do it all the time by any means (he had other interests too), and wasn't obnoxious about it, but he really cared and expressed his opinions without pushing them. But, for me as a little kid with other interests, it was overexposure. If someone had told me ten years ago that I would hang out in a political forum, I would have told them something along the lines of "you're nuts."

What got me to come here? That thing that infested our country via the Oval Office a few years ago. But I've learned a lot here, among them being how left and right wing media outlets report the name bit of news. The Douchey-Psaki saga is an example: many posters here have suggested that Faux Noise edits their exchanges to make it seem like Douchey "gets" Psaki when it's the other way around.

So I'm curious whether a YouTube show, focusing on how specific bits of news are reported by both sides, would be interesting to the masses. For instance, the RW scandal over Kamala's cooking pot vs how it was reported elsewhere, or how Jen Psaki answered Peter's question vs how Faux edited it. Basically a Brian Tyler Cohen type of show, but long on the actual news clips and short on extraneous commentary.

Hope that's clear. If not, I'll elaborate.

Whaddaya think?

1. You tube has all the Psaki press briefings in their entirety. It is not that the information

is not available but the other side does not have the will to watch anything that does not fit their narrative. A great many trumpers watch her on FB, by the amount of despicable comments. You would be preaching to the choir but if your intention is just to get short blurbs out to the people who don't have time to find them all then perhaps. Most of us already know how they skew their views at Fox.

7. Good points. Make it good & big enough & open enough, then all sides will not be able to ignore it

So any start is a good start if the plan / vision has an eye towards scalability.

Good enough means true, direct, compact, and clear, with a full content backdrop.

Open enough means that you have to have red and blue responses without it becoming red hot or ice blue or both or neither (purple).

A good vlog can do this, but moderation of responses is hell.

If a person believes that the blue perspective is rooted in the realities of fact, logic, science and carefully considered common sense, then you can do it. Reality always wins in the long run, usually in the medium run, and sometimes in the short run ("instant karma" ). However, many examples of "common sense" are elevated despite being brutishly simplistic sentiment.

So, nothing succeeds like pointing out undeniable reality in well-placed context that does not allow wiggle-room.

The standard should be "beyond a reasonable doubt".

2. I think it's a great idea.

I really do. And ads for YouTube are the cheapest way to get folks to your website if you have one. You’re only charged by how many clicks and if them viewers have to watch for a certain amount of time. You set the budget.

I think it’s brilliant really, and much needed. Please do me when it’s live. I’ll be your first subscriber.

We need a place for left and right to come back together in a shared reality.

How to deal with the crappy comments I will leave for others to sort out.

Please do this and please post on DU video pages. DUers will spread them- at least I will.

Good luck, go go go!

5. Facts and truth are not appealing to many

From what I have heard, you have to appeal to emotion with those people on the right, otherwise they would blow you off.
What you propose to do would be more effective if you could reach your audience, obviously.

8. Yes, emotion is important and must be there beside truth and clarity

I think some of the Lincoln Project and MeidasTouch videos combine those very effectively.

10. I think your idea has merit, but it wouldn't necessarily be of benefit to us here

at DU. It would keep you occupied and out of trouble while perhaps informing some
of those that are open to The Truth.

Meanwhile, I tire quite quickly of political news and will now head over to The Lounge
to check out the latest Kitteh-Kat Pics. We're about a lot more than politics here!

yeah, here I'd be preaching to the choir. But the idea was to try to reach other folks.
